If you make a third channel can you call it Adam Threely?

I agree it isn't Kendrick's best work, but if there is anyone in hiphop right now who deserves the Pulitzer it's him.

No explanation, just boom "Adam Neely 2" ...I'm down.

I no lie shed a tear when I heard Kendrick got the award. It means people are starting to see the true artistry and cultural relevance of hip hop. Pretty big moment.

The only thing i don't agree in all of the comments i read about this is that he shoudn't have won it for DAMN. Because the award is given for the best work of the year, and I truly can't see no other album as acclaimed as DAMN. this year. It has a 95/100 on metacritic. It topped the far majority of "best of 2017" lists. If there's something unfair about this is that the pulitzer seemed to ignore all mainstream music prior to DAMN., and not the fact that it won this year.

The people who say "Kendrick deserves it, but not for DAMN." make no sense. The prize has always caught composers on lesser-known pieces. It kind of comes down to what piece strikes the judges that year, so you end up with great composers winning with whatever they wrote that year, and not for their famous stuff. Charles Ives won for his third symphony, not for his far more innovative and characteristic 2nd symphony or Concord Sonata. Reich won for a late work, and not for a game-changer like Music for 18 Musicians or It's Gonna Rain, and some really important composers like John Cage never won at all.

“I didn’t know you had a second channel, I’ve been missing out for so lon- oh wait this is fine.”

DAMN should win the award just solely on Thundercat's bass riff on the second verse of ELEMENT.

Interesting that so many of these other artists you've mentioned were awarded for a piece that wasn't their greatest, just like Kendrick. That was really my only problem, but if that's the "standard" for the Pullitzer, I can't really be too upset.

Damn is a cool album, but M.A.A.d city and TPAB where better. Should have gotten an award for those

Could you make a video about why the Duke is so important to the development of music?

Congratulations Kendrick! Glass ceilings can be broken.

Saying it is a consolation prize makes more sense as both Good Kid MAAD City and To Pimp a Butterfly are better than DAMN.

I am not angry. That just means hes opened the door way for other artists to compete for those types of acgievements. It would be nice seeing people who wouldn't all normally compete in such a way as to create music that simply outclasses itself every year. Sure it might not suit everybodies sonic palet but it serves as a beacon for some young kid who has only just started music and would have probably never have known that musicians could win such a distinguished and charming achievement ever in their lives. I just can't wait to hear who else(music artist) might win it in my life time.

Was anybody complaining when Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize last year?

Both TPAB and Mad City are way better than Damn, damn left me feeling unsatisfied. Its got a lot of shiny moments on it and nice tracks, but it doesn't feel as complete as his previous works.

Speaking of the Pulitzer Prize winners, I'm curious what you think of Partita for 8 Voices. It seems like it'd be sort of up your alley given they way it explores nontraditional vocal techniques.
