I’ve got one near me and tonight I almost just got sprayed by it! I was outside with my dog keeping an eye to the wooded area when I heard something behind me turned around to see a skunk with its tail lifted ready to spray me! I grabbed my dog and ran so fast back inside my house!

Get rid of the Grubs - then no issue. Skunk/Racoon don't just randomly dig up lawns. They KNOW when there's food there.

A skunk cannot spray with their tail down. If you trap one in a cage that does not allow them to raise their tail, cover the cage with a blanket and relocate.

Yeah we have them in our area, can't do much about keep them out of my front yard, but for my back I try to repair any open fence area between my yard and my neighbors, and in a area where one of my neighbors didn't repair on their side where the shrunk would dig under the fence line, I just plugged that area with heavy stones and dirt. I found out shrunk will look for food in areas with easy access.

I think I have one thats close by. I've smelled faint smells around the house everytime I come in. But after storm damage last night I went outside where a tree came down on our shed. And the smell seemed to get stronger over in that area. I'm going to look at the grass more closely to see if it is like what you have shown. 45 years and never had a skunk problem. Lol

What if I don’t mind my skunk 🦨 in my yard.. I have a small family.. mama with 4 babies.. she don’t spray me.. she don’t eat my garden.. n she never stinks.. she comes close to me with her tail down.. she’s not afraid of me.. her n her babies only eat my bird seed.. unless I throw out other things that I think they’ll eat like bananas or grapes.. I’m not scared of her n she comes out when I call n the babies are so dang cute.. not one of them stinks like skunk.. I saved mama last year she had a cup stuck on her head.. I reeled her in with the banana smell real bananas n I pulled it off her head.. she came close n let me take the cup off!! I seriously felt so good helping her! I mean I feed the birds n squirrels daily but a skunk?!? Gosh I was scared! But they’re absolutely extraordinary n absolutely smart.. shes been living under my porch since that time.. now she even trusts me w her kids!! I never smell her or babies n she n kids only come out when they feel safe.. which is usually when I come home from work n they’re hungry .. but they’re actually good animals nothing to be afraid of.. I also have tomato’s strawberries cucumbers hot peppers pumpkins as a few other ish!! n quite a few herbs.. n them skunks 🦨 never touch get into my goods.. they’re good wild animals

We’ve got a skunk in our yard. He was just on our deck, and a large section of grass has been dug out, just like yours. He’s cute and I’ve read that they are seldom aggressive, unless they have rabies. It’s unfortunate for our lawn, but we’re going to leave him alone and let him stay as long as he wants.

I have also come to hear they can be actually beneficial for the yard. It could be a case that you had some worms in your yard which was principally in charge of destroying your grass and the skunk is actually feeding off those worms. In that case it would be saving your other intact green grass!

Skunks come out during the day too . The ones here where I live come during the day so irritating

This happened to me this past fall it was very difficult to deal with . I was able to revive the grass before winter . Next year I’m going treat earlier for grubs

I have these holes and have seen the skunk on more than one occasion. I have had skunks here in the last year I think they come and go. They do smell even if they do not spray, they just have an odor. But the one that has been here I am not sure where he is living because I don't smell anything.
