I used to have around 28-32 fps. Optimized some stuff and now I’m getting solid 40+. The difference of 10 frames per second is staggering between 30 and 40. Game went from borderline unplayable to enjoyable.

Back in high school I used to play games on my dad's laptop at 20-30fps and somehow enjoyed it (probably because that was all I had). Now my current RTX laptop is running games at 100fps+

40fps is the sweet spot for saving power and good enough fluidity, since 30fps is 33.3ms per frame but 40fps is 25ms and 60fps is 16.7ms, being exactly in the middle that's why it feel closer to 60fps for fluidity but are closer from 30 in term of energy consumption. The sweet spot . Pair that with an efficient gpu and play at 1080p High instead of max settings and you get yourself a nice gaming experience without having to spent much more than a console.

You cant really see the difference between 40, 50 and 60 but you can feel it when u play

i created an 1080p 40hz custom res on my tv monitor and any game can sync at 40 fps. It is very smooth and has fast response. 30hz - 30fps is not so smooth but the big problem is that the response of the gameplay is very slow at 30fps
