Nappy rash (known as Diaper rash in the Americas) is a common form of irritated skin (dermatitis) that looks like patches of inflamed skin on your baby's bottom. It's often related to wet or infrequently changed diapers, skin sensitivity, and chafing. It usually affects babies, though anyone who wears a diaper regularly can develop the condition.

Diaper rash usually clears up with simple at-home treatments, such as air drying, more-frequent diaper changes and ointment.

In this video Dr O'Donovan explains DIAPER (nappy) rash including what it looks like, 7 top tips for treating it and treating at home and what not to do, and when to seek medical advice.

Hello Doc, I’m a RN. Just a little confused I thought as much air flow and air time to the diaper rash is advisible to let the skin dry up a bit. IE having the diaper loose, having them rest on a towel when in the crib vs wearing a diaper. However I am confused when to use Vaseline, as it acts as a barrier to the urine and feces I believe, but wouldn’t it contradict the purpose of drying out the area up. Apologies English is not my first language. Thank you

Hello dr
My baby has something like skin peel in around her anus, it’s red and looks painful
I think I’m guilty of not changing her diaper frequently because she doesn’t cry
Is that also nappy rash? And can I put Vaseline on it
