There's No Way You Keep Your Job After This...

I mean some of his performances have been really bad, I think it may be time to move on from their 3rd round draft pick especially as he's having circles ran around him by a UDFA.

The onside kick was the most egregious IMO. Buddy just nailed it straight out of bounds

Missing 51 and 58 yard kicks doesn't make him terrible. But the missed extra point and terrible onside kick may have done him in.

Most football commentators treat kicking as an afterthought. That's why I really like your channel. A good kicker can make a BIG difference.

The misses were bad, but I don't think I've ever seen an onside kick botched that bad. Like the Chris Boswell thing with the Steelers, at least he was trying a different technique and just missed. Moody just pooch punted that ball past everyone lol.

OH Was I ready for this video.

Moody HAD to be helping out the Lions. He can't be THAT BAD! That onside kick sealed it for me lol

I’ve been calling for Moody’s job since he was a rookie. He only makes the kicks that dont matter. Every other 25 yard chip in is wide right then left.

Moody really put in perspective of what a phenomenonCowboys kicker Aubrey Brandon is. Aubrey played a little bit of college soccer, signed with an FC soccer team in 2018, got cut, and decided to used his college degree and became a software engineer. While watching a football game, his wife told him that he could be a good placekicker, with the Cowboy struggling with their kicking game, they saw enough in Aubrey to give him a shot at being a placekicker, than he was forced into kicking extra points and field goals. In his first NFL game, he made a 38 yarder and 5 extra points, in his second game ever, he made a 58 yarder, than he regularly made a 55, 58, 59, 60 and a 65 yarder breaking the franchise record and became the first NFL kicker to make a 59 and 60 in the same game. He became the first NFL kicker to make 36 consecutive field goals, the first kicker to make 50+ field goals without a miss (10), most kickoff touchbacks in a season, this guy broke all kinds of records for kicking in the NFL and unlike Moody whom was drafted and was groomed to be a NFL kicker, Aubrey is just another dude working away at his cubicle and walked right into the NFL.

Moody will be Michigan Wolverine royalty for years to come. It was tough watching him struggle but, as a Lions fan, it had to happen.

That hideous attempt at an onside kick deserved at least a sentence though. I think it reflects Shanahan's basic indifference if not contempt for special teams, which bites the Niners on the butt twice a season regular as clockwork. I'd bet he didn't even know about the fair catch free kick, unlike Jimbo. Also makes me think of the OT coin toss in last year's SB: "They took the ball?!?"

Hot take - I think Jake's still playing hurt. The ankle sprain he got on his kicking foot in Week 5 may very well be affecting his mechanics, and he might have been better off being shut down rather than playing through what might be an injury that is worse than initially thought.

Food for thought - Moody missed 6 kicks prior to his ankle sprain out of 112 (72/73 XP, 34/39 FG). He has missed that many in December 2024 (12/13 XP, 5/10 FG). Might be worth taking a look into, Isaac!

Moody has got to go. He’s been bad all year.

Maybe the worst onside kick I’ve ever seen. It felt like he was booting his resignation letter.

As a sad niner fan, I'm ready to move on from this Moody bum and to pay whatever Robbie Gould wants to come out of retirement! John Lynch is on the hot seat for this alone!

I still bitter that he cost us Superbowl. I hope they replace Moody.

Moody has been this bad since last year, it feels like the moment is too big for him all the time. It feels like they dont want to be wrong on their 3rd round pick wasted on a kicker, but the dude is just bad.

Don't forget, this guy only has ONE JOB!!! And he also cost the 49ers the Super Bowl when he missed the extra point during the Big Game!!!

The Sports Betting offered Moody $1million to miss the kicks so that the lions can win

As a 49ers fan:
1. to answer the question, shaky Jake-y need to go. Missing extra points isn't new for him, and there were many that he has nearly missed in his two seasons but squeaked inside an upright, and even bounced some in to my memory.
2. Yes, he was a third round selection, but in compensation picks, which happen after the 32 picks of the 3rd round. He was selected at #99, which is normally #3 in the 4th round.
3. Regardless, and 49ers content creators were saying this the moment the selection was made: WHY??? Many of the best kickers in the NFL are undrafted and earn their positions on teams. Two picks later, the 49ers also blew a pick on Cameron Latu. Who? exactly. Another player nobody but Kyle Shanahan seemed to think would actually be any good and now is a Browns practice squad player, and probably won't have a job in the NFL when the regular season starts for 2025. Meanwhile, multiple offensive linemen were on the board at the same time and taken in quick succession after the 49ers selections, all of whom have roles on active rosters and starts under their belts while the 49ers only have two good offensive linemen. It makes me want to rip my hair out.

As a Lions fan, it was something of a relief that Moody wasn't making his kicks.

As a Michigan fan, I'll be real- watching that hurt my heart. We didn't call him "Money Moody" for no reason, he was a huge part of two conference-championship teams. Last night they kept talking about his "high ankle sprain", I hope dude gets better and goes back to kicking ass and field goals.
