Thanks for the video! I'm a Greek living abroad and I can tell you for sure that the Nescafe sold around Europe (I don't know about Canada) is certainly different from the Nescafe we have back home when it comes to making a frappe. The Greek one makes a thick layer of foam at the top, while the rest don't, no matter how long you shake it. The difference is that the Greek variant is freeze-dried, while the rest are spray-dried.

Dude, loved your Crete videos. I lived there for 8 years when I was in US Air Force back in 80s. The base was outside of Heraklion and closed 1993. I returned in 2018 and hooked up with my Greek friends. It was awesome>. Cretans are different from Northern Greece.I'm glad you enjoyed.

Our FreshCo stores in Manitoba carry some Greek items. Jarred: honey, oregano, olives peppers etc. Canned: dolmadakia, gigantes etc. Also frozen 7days brand tiropitakia and spanakopitakia that are almost as good as mom’s. Sobers grocery has carried Greek mitzithra, not sure if they still do as We have Greek Market and a couple of Italian stores that carry Greek cheeses and products.
The Skinos masticha liqueur is very good, a friend bought a bottle for me from LCBO in Ontario.

Love all the goodies. This haul reminds me of my childhood when we would travel to Italy to visit family, we (my mom) would always do a big food haul to bring back home to Canada. Our luggage smelled of cheese, spices and cured dried meats. Great video.

In Vitina they make thick vanilla honey from fir tree, you should try it. Another sugar preserve you might like over greek strained yogurt, is carrot. You can find the recipe online.

I have a suitcase that comes back just like yours, LOL! I contacted Frito Lay trying to find the oregano chips and they said they're only available regionally in Greece. BUMMER! I did not run across the tzatziki ones so I'll be keeping my eye out next year!

Newfoundlander living abroad and visiting Athens next month, have enjoyed watching all your food videos and look forward to trying another of your recommendations. Wondering which grocery store you would recommend to visit in athens and where you picked up the wood utensils.
Thanks!

next time try to get "vanillya". It resembles a gooey melted marshmallow in a jar, you spoon it out and plop it into a cold glass of water so it stays stiff and have it with Greek coffee . When you finish you get to drink the water which was infused with the strong vanilla flavor.

I am a year late...but if you want the recipe of making the dark cherries in syrup...I know it....come from a long line of good cooks!!!! Also just in case you hear different..the best baklave is a mix of almond and walnut filling....GUARANTEED!!!
