An Ascender was always a very uncommon sight, especially nowadays. Something like only 17, 000 sold between 2003 and 2008, I think. A V8 Ascender is even more rare - I don't know exact numbers, but most were sold with the 4.2L Vortec Inline 6. This one's worth saving and selling for sure!

I went to an Isuzu dealership and test drove an Ascender. I was trying to get a trailblazer for cheaper. The sales guy was clueless. He was talking about how it was Japanese engineering and it made the Ascender better than the GMC or Chevy and that they were completely different vehicles. Ended up getting a slightly used Rainier that was loaded. Way cheaper.

I like the Ass ender. Very rare and usually well equipped with the V8 drivetrain. Guess the owner of this one had never heard of floor mats.

Back in 2006, I was a tech at ta dealer that had a Isuzu franchise and we got a flyer in our paychecks that had ads for Ascenders they couldn't sell with a discount for employees. I thought it was pretty hilarious at the time.

I have a 2008 Envoy XL with a 5.3 They are long lasting vehicles without the 3.6 timing guide issues.

Trailblazer 💪

That Isuzu probably cleans up pretty good I imagine

The 4.2L Atlas straight 6 was a pretty good motor. Too bad GM discontinued it before the aftermarket caught on to how much potential they have.

My sister had a used Enviy. Back where the spare tire is there is a air compressor. It's a handy thing to have.

That envoy is the color of my 06 Sierra duramax. It's a nice color. Greystone metallic is the name

Had an 03 Trailblazer 4.2. Had 230k miles on it when it rusted out but was still running smooth

The 4l60E is a weak link if left unattended. Most of these have incredibly high mileage but usually have transmission problems at this point. My brother had 04 4x4. Had over 200, 000 miles but a loss of foward gears. The Atlas I6 was durable. Small common issues like coils, guage clusters and pcm burning coils are common.

I love my uncle’s Ascender. It’s not ugly like the Trailblazer and Envoy, and it’s fun to drive. Hope to get my hands on one someday, maybe his. They have nice lines.

Wow! 270k miles is absolutely impressive for any modern 'ish' Chevy product let alone a GMC Envoy.

They were all the same vehicle, but the Isuzu ascender being an Isuzu was the coolest!!! In my opinion

Remember the Isuzu trooper and Joe Isuzu back in the 80s.😂.

If you are good about maintaining these they can last. My uncle has an envoy xuv he bought brand new with 400k on it and going strong. Just watch out for rust.
