Cleaned so many of those damn. Thankfully I have a regular grill in my kitchen. Hate those flat tops to clean.

Having worked in restaurants for a cool minute, those oil splashes just become a regular occurrence no matter how careful you are

Kitchen I used to work in had us scrubbing that thing every night after service until it was a damn near mirror finish. I do not miss those days

Lil bit a lemon juice and water at the end gives it a polished finish. I always love cleaning the flat tops at work lol.

The angled bench scrapper when you try to clean the run off… Such a throwback man, I remember cleaning these things every night after service

I suggest you use the lemon, baking soda and vinegar cleaning technique for that it's very easy and less work let it sit for like 5-10 mins and boom easy

Try a quart container of 50/50 white distilled vinegar and cold water. Crank up the heat, scrap as you did before and then pour the 50/50 mixture on and kill the heat and try to keep the liquid centered on the heavily used section of the flattop. Then scrap towards the drain and wipe with a cloth.

It stinks and the vinegar will clear the sinuses but you’ll always get the Polish steel look back.

Its weird that even a simple cleaning video of Matt's is satisfying

At my job, we do it very differently. We do it every night and we go home as soon as we finish usually so we like to be quick (I try to do it in under 10 minutes, and it’s a much bigger grill) we also clean it much better. We bring a bowl of water and soap (I add lemon juice personally) and one of those wire sponges (we use a dirty one bc the grill is nasty) and we scrub it down. We also use a scraper to get the edges, finish it with lemon juice and then wipe the whole thing down with a towel. It starts hot but by the end it’s cooled down, clean and dry.

I just got flashbacks to cleaning the grill after closing using hot oil and a worn down grill brick. The worst was when we’d accidentally splash ourselves with the hot oil.

We had gloves for extra safety but they were so gross and oily. We’d time ourselves to see who could clean the grill the fastest. Best first job I could’ve ever asked for, I got to work with my best friend friend and see her everyday.

Grill bricks work great, I work in a kitchen and we clean our flat tops the same way but sprite instead of oil and finish with lemon juice & water, if you haven’t finished with lemon juice I promise it’ll be shining afterwards, practically brand new

Equal parts lemon juice and water and throw on flat top while still hot. Super easy and clean, no need for the grill brush.

Thank you I have been looking for a good video on this. I work in a kitchen and had no idea how to use the grill brick properly 🤘
