When the light hits it you can see the swirl marks on the flat paint ! Wtf Rachel!?

I just had my walls repainted. I had flat paint for 10 years and it was very durable. I could scrub it and it wouldn't leave rub marks (it was a light cream color). So I wanted flat again but went with a darker tan similar to the wall in the video. I just bumped into the wall with my elbow and left a small rub mark on the wall. I attempted to wipe it with a wet paper towel and it made it shinier. Then I decided to touch it up with paint dabbing it with a paper towel and still had a shadow spot, then I rolled it with my 6 inch roller and it just looks bigger. I wish I had just left it, with the rail installed it WOULD have been almost unseen. I am so mad at myself. Sure can't keep things nice for long! It lasted one day. I liked flat paint because you don't see all the roller marks, imperfections in the sheet rock, and dust on the wall are less visible. But this is an obvious shortcoming.

flat paint sucks. this is my first time having it and kids greasy fingers make this paint suck worse. you have to practically keep a can to touch up every few months

Good luck. That magic eraser is simply a very fine sand paper. You’ll scratch EVERYTHING. Been there, done that...got the T-Shirt. It says “Way to go dummy!” 😞

i had the same problem. I recommend just touching up with paint as well.

that paint is not FLAT, I can see a sheen which means its TOTALLY different then trying to remove body oil stains from a FLAT (matt color) wall paint. Your solution will only make a large mess. Typically the only way to clean smudges off of a FLAT wall color is to repaint the area.

But I can see see a discoloration on the wall afterwards that’s what I’m trying to avoid

Magic eraser will clean the dirty spots so well that it will take up the paint but it will also leave the rest of the wall looking dirty. My suggestion is use the magic eraser but get a lot because it looks cleaner if you do larger areas to try and even it out but its a great arm work out. Or you can just repaint.

Flat paint when wet will always come off with pressure. Best thing to do is to wipe and spot clean with baby wipes. If the paint comes off get yourself some plaster and a spreader put it on the wall where the damage is. Let it dry and then paint over the plaster. Good as new. It takes a few days to return to normal color as the paint dries and cures. Hope this comment help. NEVER SCRUB FLAT PAINT!

My wall has knockdown texture with flat wall paint. I used the magic eraser on my walls and it took the flat paint right off. Is this typical? This happened with very little pressure. So far the only way I've found to clean the walls is to paint right over the marks. I have used magic eraser on walls painted with some type of of enamel (or whatever the coating is that makes it easy to clean) and just about everything comes off super easy.

the flat paint I have tends to get worse with just water and a sponge as the water seems to soak in and stain the paint even more. Any suggestions ?

Was gonna say. The reason why I looked it up is because it takes the paint off .... Smh

Fresh paint over older paint is more noticeable especially on white walls. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is the best as far as brands go...start off by rubbing lightly. Worked like magic for me.
