This vid is two years old, and I am sure IB doesn't look at these. But I have to say I changed where I aim because of vids like this. After 40+ years of looking at the arrows. I made a change, and now I target the first set of dots. I can't believe the difference. If I hit my dot, I don't even have to look up. I know it's a strike. Old dog, new tricks. Thanks for all the vids.

The Great Earl Anthony was the first pro I ever heard who taught this technique. It does work! It is also really nice to not have to move as the lane starts to change.

As a youth bowler, today I have watched many of your videos and they targeted everything that hurt me during junior gold and survivor last week! Definitely saving these and putting them to work this summer!!

All of these weekly tips have bumped my average up 20 pins! Thank you, Shannon!

I remember watching an instructional video by the great Earl Anthony and he said he used that same technique to change his break point on the lane.
Look in closer to get his ball hooking sooner, or look further down the lane to delay the break.
I have used this technique for years and it works great...!!!

Another tool to add to my toolbox, once I can practice again.
Thanks, once again, Shannon and Inside Bowling!

Great tips, Shannon. I have done a little bit of everything since I picked bowling back up in April 2019. I've looked at the pins, I've looked at the dots, I've looked at the arrows, and I've looked past the dots, and for me, what works the best is looking at the arrows. If the lanes are breaking down, I have to move left one or two boards, usually using the same arrow as my target, maybe moving my eyes one or two boards depending on how many other bowlers use a similar path. One of my goals for 2021 is developing more confidence in where I am supposed to look.

This is a great tip, I am 71 years old and been bowling for 40 years. I find that look close to file line I hook more down the lane I hook less 👍

I'm glad coaches and competitive bowlers are finally talking about this. Was getting real sick of USBC coaches saying "jUsT LoOk At tHe ArRoWz aNd oNlY tEh aRrOwZ" as if they are stuck in the 80s having only 2 AMF Angles in their bag while they just play up 10 all day.

I personally start the session looking at the dots and look further if necessary. Most of the time I don't need to look past the dots tho. This is on House shots...on sport shots sometimes you need to look down the lane right out of the gate and even loft right out of the gate.

That's how Cheetah plays nowadays. Back in the day you needed to have very early timing and stay on the channel. But nowadays? Gotta pretty much loft the cap right from the start if you have a lot of rotation. Can't do this by just looking at the arrows.

I could never figure out why my ball would hook too soon. I look shorter (set of dots right after the foul line) and I struggle with foot placement. I will try looking at the arrows next time and see how this tip works. Thanks

looking at the arrows i tend to miss my mark alot but when I started looking at the dots it feels so much easier to hit my mark. Now if only I could pick my spares I might actually average above 215

Just wanted to let you know I tried this technique, where instead of focusing at the arrows I focused about 2 feet past the arrow. to my surprise the ball didn't flare and went where I wanted it to go. sports pattern that has about 47 feet of oil. had to play it to the right and throw it past the second arrow with a slight angle. just wanted to say thanks for that tip :)
can't wait for our Sunday League that uses that about of oil :)

Sounds Like this would be helpful one left and right movement just don’t seem to be doing what you need them to do I’ll try it

Never thought about it, but when I need to hit the 5 pin I do look further down the lane

Looking past the arrows helps me stay behind the ball longer

Interesting..like Wes Malott..ive always looked about at the foul line when I throw it..I noticed when trying to look at the arrows, my ball didn't hook nearly as much..I thought it was just me not being able to hook it
