Comparison between Germany, Real Madrid and Arsenal legend Mesut Ozil and the Roma and Italy legend Totti. It was Totti who lead Roma to their Serie A Scudetto win whilst Ozil was part of the Mourinho Real Madrid side as well as being part of the 2014 Germany World Cup winning team.

Özil pass for Ronaldo that lead up to calma calma.

Özil goal vs lugogerates in Ucl for 3-2 is one of the greatest goals in Ucl history as well.

I get that Totti won the league with Roma, but Özil was a huge player in a league campaign for Real Madrid. Not just any league campaign, the greatest league campaign in Real Madrid's history. 100 points, 121 goals scored in one league season. That's more goals than any other team ever in the top 5 leagues. This is an all-time league season in the top 5 leagues without question.
Couple that with his many domestic cups, including one with Werder freaking Bremen and one where he beat prime Barcelona in the final, I can't see how resumé can go to Totti.

Look, I appreciate the whole "loyal to his boyhood club" aspect, but it just works in an inconsistent manner. "Casillas is greater than Neuer and Buffon because he stuck with his boyhood club for like 15 years".

I don't see this type of decision enhancing one's legacy in and of itself.

I love Ozil, but I'm old enough to remember when people were comparing Totti to Zizou, he even outshined him in that 2000s Euro final. Ozil is one of my favourite players, but he doesn't compare to a lot of no 10s of that era (Totti, Zizou, Riquelme, arguably Aimar and Rui Costa etc).

The only reason Totti isn't rated as high as the very best is because he played for a significantly smaller club his whole career, and he had a poor attitude occasionally (Balotelli kick, spit Euro 2004, numerous red cards).

He was a much more creative passer than Ozil, he was the main playmaker for Italy alongside Pirlo (they even shared set pieces).

This guy was playing first time passes that I don't even think Messi is capable of (who is the goat for me), and with both feet without looking on a regular.

When you add his striking ability of the ball, there's no comparison here for me. Watch a few compilations and matches, Madrid wanted to sign him at least twice (including after his career ending injury in the 05/06 season) for a reason.

I think you got it wrong on impact. Impact is not defined by how well you were regarded by peers or by people around at the time, but rather how important you were in the roles you played for your various teams and country, therefore i think impact should go to Ozil

Am gonna say this again, what killed ozils career was moving to that bumass club arsenal, he still did his thing, among epl assist record in a season 2015/16, but moving to arsenal was not it, if he had stayed at madrid feeding more assist to ronaldo, this guy would have had over 500 assists to his name, even ronaldo couldve probably being at 1000 gs by now, lets say he leaves madrid, am surprised clubs like psg, bayern didnt go for him bc if those options were there, he would not choose arsenal, people need to put respect on his name also, top assist provider in the euros, wc, bundesliga, europa league, la liga UCL, in terms of the art of passing in the modern game or even in football history, he's up there with messi, cesc fabregas, these guys know how to be a playmaker, their vision is crazy

For me:

Özil: talent, Resume, Legacy, Longevity, iconic
Totti: L’S, Impact.
