Very nice. Nothing's sweeter than a waltz. You showed us several ways.

You are a great banjo teacher! I've played guitar all my life but just added banjo to my show three weeks ago. You are helping me learn songs quickly.

The way you play Rye Whiskey is pure brilliance! A lot of country music stars have made a lot of money playing waltz style songs.

Excellent presentation on 3/4 time. Ive been addicted to clawhammer for over 60 years and just learned a few new things from this video.

Other ways to play 3/4 time is 'Round Peak' clawhammer technique employing 'alternate string pull offs' and/or 'Galax Licks' (2-3 string slow arpeggios), ... or 'jig toggling' (6/8 time) where you 'pick' a full note below the 'target' note with your finger then hammer-on the target note usually with the third finger and finish the target note with a quick pull off to an open string from the second/target note --- good for 'highly ornamented' Celtic clawhammer and 'vital' for playing the fast jigs.
Rx: use a pull off or alternate string pull off for the '1, 2, 3' sequence.

These methods are best if you center your notes/chords around the fifth fret ... as the strings will be 'more stretchy', especially for alternate string pull offs. Centering on the 5th fret also doubles the availability of cordal patterns .... on the lower strings but with the second string used as your 'lead' string (instead of the first string) and with less hand/finger stretch to the 'higher' cords/notes.

Hi Clifton, , The problem I always found with waltz time was having to sacrifice in parts the 3/4 underlining rhythm to play the melody and then returning to the beat again..making it sound broken...what I discovered was playing ( bum ditty bum)(bum ditty bum) allows me to do both..like a soldier never breaking step..the melody always staying on top of a constant 3/4 beat...no breaks sounding fluid..I know its simple but works for me...now I am waiting to get shot down by everyone.but if this helps someone out there cool..Jackdaw

Could you play Groundhog 2 fingered banjo at about half speed so that I can hear the sound of each note, perhaps each verse separately. Thank you (great tuition)
