iPhone Overheating? Here’s The Real Fix!

If a bad app or widget is making your iPhone hot, it’s probably best to delete that app or widget and find an alternative.

Make sure to check for an iOS update, as running outdated software can cause problems on your iPhone.

For deeper software issues, try resetting all settings on your iPhone. This will often eliminate software problems that are difficult to track.

The last thing you can do before completely ruling out a software problem is a DFU restore, the deepest type of iPhone restore.

OK Restore all settings did the trick. I don't know what it fixed but it has cooled down and analytics show the errors have stopped. All apps are working again. I was literally on my way to upgrade from my 6S to an 11. You saved me some money during the pandemic.

I just bought a refurb iPhone 11 pro max from Verizon online, May 2022. As soon as I opened it, it was overheating a lot. I went to your channel to try your fixes first, before returning it. Note …that VZN charges a $50 restocking fee, not sure if they would offer to fix or let me exchange. The good news is that I tried your first suggestion to check the battery settings and the Siri app was using 85% . I cannot stand Siri and never use it, but the iPhone settings automatically had all siri options turned on— about 15 of them. I turned them all off, and have had no overheating at all. I will update this comment if I have anymore problems. Thank you very much!

I play one game for 3 hours so I play it on a flat Ice pad. That cured my over heating of an I phone 7. I must warn everyone the I phone 7 will not charge at 32F . It will start charging again at 40F. The I phone 7 does not type correctly when too hot.

Faulty WiFi modules also can cause overheating. Overheating is not always caused by the CPU. For example, my phone doesn’t overheat in airplane mode. But when I turn on WiFi, I’m getting an abnormal amount of heat.
