I don’t think people understand how much our society has become a monopoly, our food is controlled by like 4 companies that all talk to each other. And all they have to do is keep giving money to law makers (who made bribing legal for themselves) so they vote the way the companies want.

Ok, yes theres a large markup, but raybans are great! I started wearing them because of my dad, whos been wearing them for some 30 odd years. They are built perfectly, mirror finishes on the metal, the lenses are extremely scratch resistant, and their polarisation is radial, so you can still see screens with them on! 200 bucks for a pair thatll last you 10+ years, and 30 bucks for new lenses incase you damage them is pretty good for me.

Buying off of Amazon eliminates any markup because there's always another brand cheaper and just as good

I buy from Luxottica only cuz I work for them, it’s alright considering their discounts and promotions. If I didn’t have the employee benefits I wouldn’t bother, you don’t get much bang for your buck unless you add like a billion extras to your lenses but that’ll cost an arm and a leg

As an Indian, I can buy those same glasses at high quality for 25 cents near station 😂😂😂

William Painter makes some great sunglasses. Metal frames, and lifetime warranty on them as well if they break. Highly recommend them.

my mom used to make Tommy Hilfiger khakis pants. they are nothing more than Dockers. One batch goes to one place to get the Tommy logo sewed on and the others went to Dockers for the same thing.

Got to say though, I've not been able to find as good sunglasses cheaper.

There are more choices now on the market there was a couple decades ago. The only way to beat monopolies especially now that states is to innovate since people are so in love with monopolies.

This is why I buy glasses from Zenni and went to an independent optometrist.

But what confused me is when I get the off brand stuff that is supposedly “the exact same thing but without the logo” it’s always flimsy and there’s a ton of errors with the paint, metal, screws, and glass quality. Idk man I think the branded stuff is way overpriced but definitely better than “the same thing” without the logo.

You know, maybe that’s true but still, you want the brand you’ve got to pay for it. Also that’s how everything works, from gas stations to the Rolex dealership downtown

In an era of $1200 Balenciaga hoodie and $500 Gucci t-shirts, $150 for a brand name pair of sunglasses sounds reasonable to me.

and thats why i buy the $3 pair at supermarkets.
fun fact i was grocery shopping for camping, and decided i need some sunglasses, the cashier scanned them but they never added to my final bill
