Tony Simpson turned 43 on Aug. 7 the day before the fire began. Friends told his family he was last seen on Keone Street in Lahaina around 4 p.m. Some of his neighbors made it out and others didn't - his sister flew in from Thailand.

If your brother is being presumed dead, I would be 100% sure that he did so saving lives. People choose his profession because that is their passion. Your brother is a hero. Please don't doubt that. Hoping the best for you and your ohana. Aloha!

This is just heartbreaking. The lack of communication is unacceptable to families grieving their loved ones.

I’m so sorry. You haven’t failed. Hawaii local and state officials and the federal government has failed your brother, you and thousands of others. Prayers to you and your loved ones. 🌺

I am so very sorry, Tony was a good friend of mine and it has been so heartbreaking to watch this all unfold. My heart and prayers are with you all and all the other families that have lost loved ones and have people unaccounted for. I truly pray that you will get some answers very soon ❣️ I will never forget Tony he made a huge impact in my life. Such a great guy a true hero!! 🙏💗💔

The disorganization is immense. Everything she said is correct. There needs to be an information hub and an official escort should have been made available for her to go to his home, since she flew in from off island. At minimum, it would have given her clues as she said, whether he had taken his motorcycle, and I imagine in a very sad way possibly could have afforded some type of acceptance and beginning of closure visiting his home. Am so heartbroken for everyone. Prayers.

I cannot believe the level of cruelty these government officials are inflicting upon the victims. This is a mind blowing level of evil.

My heart breaks for her I truly hope and pray her brother is alive and well. People have suffered dearly for the derelict corrupt evil money hungry scums.

Can you imagine? You are at home, a fire starts and then somebody locks the door, turn of the water, no communication... That was murder!

Fish said it best.
He said this was a choregraphed disaster.
He was right.

This is heartbreaking. This person came from so far and reached out to the press in desperation. Not even able to obtain a keepsake from his home. It’s so wrong. What about the local people? How many more in Lahaina are nervous to go to the press out of even a little worry of perceived reprisal?? Is that why we don’t hear more?
It feels like the Mayor and state are locked down with pretty words at controlled pressers or recorded statements.
And nobody even bothers to call this lady.

I'm only a bystander on the other side of the world and learning about this tragedy is a nightmare. The locals must have an unbelievable amount of patience and virtue to have not strung these people up on lampposts.

It needs to be determined why Maui County's and Hawaii's elected leaders chose to execute numerous climate initiatives instead of executing fire prevention, fire preparedness, and firefighting initiatives.

So heartbreaking for the sister of her missing loved one to have no answers as she’s waited and traveled so far to leave without any closure is absolutely devastating! Prayers for all those waiting to hear and receive closure of their loved ones missing!💜✝️🤍💜💜✝️

Nothing more evil than a government bureaucrat during a crisis. Self-important, defensive, denial of responsibility is all they do. There are Hawaiians in the government who need to become whistleblowers.

My heart shatters with every one of these family stories. God be with them.

HELLO ALL.... UPDATE Sadly there has been an update on Tony Simpson.
His sister's FB page just 12 hours ago, states they have received confirmation that her brother has passed in his home during the fire... RIP...

Third woman just touched on the lack of action and transparency. Can you imagine how the locals feel who have lost loved ones and haven't been able to get any answers by their own local government?

Let Us back in to OUR properties to mourn the loss of our loved ones, our family homes, and give closure to our previous lives. This government and those affiliated with it are at the bare minimum criminally negligent and moving ever closer to malicious and hostile to the people of Maui.
