Running a Horror One-Shot? Play DREAD Instead of D&D!

Dungeons and Dragons is great, but it doesn't do everything perfectly. Horror is one thing it struggles with. Luckily, there are other table top RPGS, like DREAD, that do horror much better. So for your Halloween one shot, consider playing this system instead.

Funhaus did a role playing series using Dread, which introduced me to it, and it was so, so good. All the people involved are hilarious, and it was a really funny campaign, but it was also super stressful, and Dread worked SO well for it. I super recommend checking it out if you're need of a laugh, or more convincing of Dread being a good system. It's their Camp Kikimama 4 part series

I love Dread. I bought the PDF online and had it printed and bound at staples. So far I played the werewolf scenario and it was one of the best RPG night's I've hosted. 10/10 would recommend.

This sounds like the greatest thing ever!

I think it could even be adapted for other genres if you threw in something where if the player makes it past a certain point, they get a new tower.

Im on a binge so sorry if i end up comment spamming, but im glad someone else knows about and is pushing for Dread. I retooled a CoC one shot I made for it and it was amazing, such a fun time (especially combining it with some sound design and at the table folly i managed to pull off)

I watched both seasons of Dread on Geek and Sundry and loved them. Never played a game of dread myself, but I'm saving a Jenga tower just in case LOL! Thanks for another great video 🤓

I am glad this works for some people. To me it ruins the ambiance and thrill.
