I tried to keep this video concise...hopefully it wasn't too fast paced! 😅

I feel like if anyone's going to learn the art of glassblowing just to complete their Cinderella cosplay with real glass slippers, it will be you. I can't wait to continue this journey with you!

It makes sense that there are 2 different ties on the chemise, implying there are 2 different chemises, because historically, Cinderella would have had multiple chemises to wear under the same dress.

I never realized how intricate and interesting this "servant" outfit actually was. I always focused on the beauty of the Cinderella ball gown.

One shoe theory: Ella’s neglectful step mother hasn’t replaced her old shoes and she’s been in poorly fitting foot wear for years. Fairly godmother could have given her pair of converse and she would have been just as happy.

The saying “the whole 9 yards” comes from history, for when dress makers would use the full 9yards it took to make a cloak or the fabric for a ball gown skirt.

If her feet stopped growing in childhood, that would explain why no one else fit into her shoes. Then they wouldn't even have needed magic for that, which would explain other versions of the Cinderella story🤔

Can you go on a ride with the dress once you've recreated it? 🤩🥰

Multiple chemise makes sense. Under garments are supposed to get sweaty, specially for someone who's working day and night

This type of video just always shows how little attention I actually pay to the costumes, because I never noticed the dress being made out of a sheer fabric 🤭this is amazing, the way you find every little moment and screenshot where we can see how the costumes are constructed is just pure delight ! ♥️

The ballet flats Cinderella wears are very similar to Repetto’s (french brand). They might even have been made by them, since the brand did a Disney Cinderella version of the shoe at the time the movie came out. Side note: the shoe is actually called Cendrillon, which is how the french call Cinderella.

I used to dye shoes for weddings and proms and that uneven color edge could definitely be from dying. You dye by dipping a dauber (essentially a 3/4-1" poof on a stick) into the dye and run it over the shoe fabric quickly to dye evenly. You have to dye very purposely to not have an edge like that. The children's shoe version you showed looks a lot like dyeable ballet flats you can still get from Touch Ups by Benjamin Walk. Painting would be much easier, as to dye shoes, they must be dyeable- the fabric needs to be specifically dyeable. Also, you need multiple colors of the right dye and clear extender to mix your color, and the color can easily bleed onto your feet or get water spots with moisture.
Very excited to see how this project turns out, you are so talented!💙

Yeah, so happy you're recreating this dress too! I always loved the "simplicity" of her maid dress and when you did finish your ballgown I thought how nice it were if you made her maid dress too 🙂

I love these kind of “let’s go on a dress making adventure” kind of series lol

You may already know this, but those particular pleats are used in southern heirloom clothing and classic English clothing on dresses and shirts. We call them ‘smocked’ pieces because of the hand smocking that is done on top of the pleats. If we like a wide expanse of pleats that don’t have visible smocking, we do a technique called “back-smocking” with a cable stitch or a vine stitch to keep the pleats intact. Hope that helps!

Bella are you going to be selling the patterns for this like you did for the ballgown?

I am SO excited. I like this dress even more than the ball gown and this has been on my dream project list for so long! Maybe this will inspire me to actually get to it!💕
