I just installed the nema 14-50 plug with GFCI 50 amp outlet. Waiting for the inspector to pass my work. I just ordered the Aimilee level 2 charger for $129 on Amazon. Will test the charger when it arrives.

Is your outlet backed by a gfci breaker? If so, that might explain why your first charger isn't working. It's well known that some EVSEs have their own breaker inside and don't play well on circuits that also have a breaker. Translation: you could at least sell the "bad" EVSE and just let everyone know not to buy it if they have a gfci breaker, or live in a state that requires it. Some states don't.

I installed my own 14-50 outlet and it's working great. But my EVSE is on 32A and my Tesla can take up to 48A. I might one day switch it out, but there's honestly no need. There's never been a time where I needed the extra charging speed. I wake up in the morning and my car is ready to go!

Hi there. It looks like only the handle is UL certified, not the entire unit. Seems to be somewhat common.
