That is really interesting. I grew up in the 40's so my first exposer to both control line and free flight were all ignition engines. I have been a modeler all my life.

So my passion for ignition came from that era. And I have a good collection of old spark engines that I have also restored to new or better than new condition. I have flown them both in old timer free flights but with a radio and in control line. After having flown ignition for a time, glow is a bit ho hum.

So seeing this young man doing what He does is purely out of passion for the Old Time planes and engines that came from exposer to it. Many of us old guys can relate.

Great video Bill.

Thank you for not "talking over" the engine sound! Great to hear that after so many years.

That's a really interesting video Bill! I was at that 2016 Nationals, flying ignition of course, and I remember seeing him flying the Bombshell and I just assumed he was a kid flying his dad's or his grand dad's models! I started flying ignition during the 80s when I was in my 20s and it's still my favorite form of free flight. It was almost impossible to buy an ignition engine then because they were all in the hands of "collectors" so I used an ignition converted Fox .25. If you're going to fly ignition, get an Ohlsson sideport .23. Easy to start and they make good power. Put it in a Playboy Junior and it will be a great flier! The SAM Champs are back at Muncie this year. Yahoo!

That was myself at age 9. Except I was into 1/2 A control liners. I only had 2 engines, an OK Cub .049 glow and a Macoy .35 Stunt. They served me well

Very nice video. That is a perfect Comet Clipper flight. How did Zac learn to pinch a cylinder?

Well, it did stall both in the climb and glide. Maybe remove some incidence??? Also tilt the horizontal stabilizer in order to get a tighter left glide.
