I found this on kijiji. Really great deal. Is it a Gerstner? Does anyone know? It may have been sitting around 66 years untouched. I plan on putting it back to use as intended.

Since this video I have completely remove the old felt (The smell was unbearable). I also washed the entire box. Spot sanded and stained the exterior. Three coats of polyurethane and it looks great. This really needed to be done. It is now a family heirloom. I do plan to make a video but just haven't got around to it. 🇨🇦🔩⚒🔧🇨🇦 Ask me to make an update. I always enjoy receiving comments.

I bet those VBlocks have not been hardened yet, since you can still see the machining marks on them. They were rough machined and never got sent to heat treatment for final grinding to size. The files are for doing cavity in molds and dies, I assume the box used to belong to a tool and die maker by the tools in it. If you get some of the tool and instrument oil from Starrett it will free up a lot of the problems. The box itself might have been made by the man himself as it was common in the 40-60's to make your own chest.

Not a Gerstner...but still very nice. They are all collectible in good shape regardless of maker. Possibly Union or Ramco (sp?).
