But when he went to get his IC at the age of 12, he was refused his blue IC, and deemed "Stateless."

Whether we deserve it or not, that's not the point; everything depends on whom we deal with. Sometimes we've to face injustice, discrimination and racism that never ends. That’s rediculous u can’t get IC especially if you’re dad is Malaysian.. the government should be able to do something about it.. in any country regardless the parents have kids married or not they can still give people citizenship depending where their parents from and I don’t see any reason why u shouldn’t..

Parent the problem.. not issue married certificate at the hospital. Sorry for him. Probably he got green ic. If his father married and have marriage certificate, sure no issue at all. This is not USA or any western country that u can deliver the baby without married certificate especially the mother no spouse visa . Government no recognize and simply put second class citizen like red or green IC. Best thing is re-appeal your application and fight your right. Your father also need to get recommendation letter from state government start from DO office.

Don't worry, if you can prove that you are truly Malaysia citizen son by DNA result, i believe you'll get your ic.. Moral of the story, whoever want to get marry with foreign lady, please make sure have a proper marriage so the children won't be a victim being stateless in the future.. 😁

Bro, maybe you can try find someone who are willing to admit you as their “son” and go to the Pendaftaran apply for daftar lewat. Its a process, but my dad used to help one stateless guy getting his surat beranak and then his IC. But your name will ber”bin” kan not your father’s name lah (if you’re muslim) instead your name will ber”bin”kan your pseudo dad. Hope this helps.

if you have any paperwork proving your mother is Filipino then you can use that for Filipino Citizenship then use that to apply for dual citizenship in Malaysia
