Tornado Goes Straight Through Colorado Suburb!

On June 22, 2023 a tornado went through the Denver suburb of Highlands Ranch. Fortunately this tornado did minimal damage and nobody was hurt. I also was stopped at an underpass, which is probably the WORST place to stop for a tornado. Don't do that people.

You literally captured the moment it touched down and went through my work building. We didn’t get any heads up or alerts until it was basically on us. It was wild being in it. The windows look to be 1” thick and they were vibrating like saran wrap in the wind

The number of people taking shelter in an underpass is concerning. Still quite one of the biggest myths going around.

The fast part at the end really helps me see the tornado.

I was watching Timmer's stream and didn't realize how large that ground circulation was. Great footage!

Wow... that time-lapse was beautiful. That's crazy how close a tornado formed to the rocky mountains. (Especially in a densely populated city.)
You can see the exact moment when the tornado hits that several story tall building and it looses it's structure, then quickly reforms to be really powerful and dense wedge.

A few decades ago, Castle Rock and Colorado Springs had many tornadoes touch down for a few years. Castle Rock to Colorado Springs was called Tornado Alley.

AWESOME FOOTAGE you’re genuinely the only person that has actual footage of this tornado so kudos to you:))))

I live 10 min south of highlands ranch where the tornado was and my highschool got pretty banged up. The doors to the food court were completely ripped off and multiple large windows were blown out. I had a great view of the storm and only experienced hail and external winds

You can really see the meso / tornado once you sped the footage up. You were inside it half the time!

Thank you for sharing! I took a dog to the basement at my friends house before she got home and we didn’t get to see any of it. We heard a ton of hail, and we weren’t even hit by it - near I25 and Lincoln (Meridian) and it had lifted back up before it got to us. God Bless!! I do hope everyone is okay, and so far the reports are very good for such a large storm.

Brilliantly done. Poor Reed and Doug were a mile or so back and got caught in the traffic.

There needs to be a nationwide public announcement as to the dangers of parking underneath a bridge/flyover during a tornado.

You know there's something very wrong when the wind is roaring past you while you're driving down the freeway

This was wild to watch on radar. I’m in Elbert County now, but used to make that exact drive from Parker to Santa Fe/Belleview 5 days a week for a few years. Great capture!

I was right there- parked at the AMC Theatre- was headed West on 470 & I exited Broadway thinking that AMC had a parking garage. Knew twister was close, by the sheets of hail hitting me from all sides but had no idea where exactly it was. You can see from your video it was right on top of me. (If you know the area)

Chris, Glad your ok! I lived in the Denver / Boulder area for 15 years and there was a lot of storms, luckily no tornados. But a lot of hail and high winds over 100 mph. Stay Safe!

Wow, that was unusual. Glad to see you have new wheels, I saw that chase and omg, it was scary. That stop in the underpass was scary, talk about a wind-tunnel moment that could have been horrible! Stay safe.

I was indeed hit by this tornado, lots of huge tree's fell down and fences. It wasn't much damage but thankfully the whole street came together to clear all the debris.
