An Odd Inconsistency in the Argument Against Affirmative Action

The Supreme Court is currently debating whether to overturn Affirmative Action. While there are many people who argue that race shouldn't be considered in college admissions because it isn't an academic metric, they seem perfectly ok with other non academic factors like legacy and athletics being used. Colleges are looking for the right students for their student body, and I think they should have the freedom to use the information available to them to make the most informed decision possible.

So I'm from the Caribbean our education system is British which is higher that American education system and it's simple you get in on the Merritt of score simple I'm Indian didn't score enough to get in so went into to work field and today I'm at least 10 times richer than most of my friends who went to college have brilliant careers and the title to go with it, no government handouts simply pulled those booth straps up and got to work and be responsible for yourself and I'm 38 hopefully with the grace of god I will retire at 40 ! So no I don't agree with race Merritt, study hard work hard and you'll be good to go!

It has everything to do with the l.e. 14th amendment…..it’s very clear ! It basically says….no discrimination based on race, creed and sex etc. So by giving special consideration to college entrance I.e. affirmative action….you are doing exactly what is prohibited by the 14th amendment to the constitution. This is the main argument against it…and I hear crickets ….. from you.

So, if you got into a college because of your skin color. How would you feel/think about yourself knowing that you didn't match up to others. and only got in because of your race? Would You be proud of yourself? And how do you think others would feel/think?

Affirmative action is a blight on the education system. Just because the admission process has other metrics which are wrong doesnt mean you keep another wrong one. Universities should only consider attainable skills. Not stupid stuff like legacy or whose parents are donating money or whose parents are in politics or the skin color or any other factor that is not attainable by a student when he or she is preparing for college admission in the middle and high school.
California universities are color blind (and they do take non-academic metrics just doesnt take skin color into consideration). Check UC Berkeley admission demographics and you'll understand why Asian students are complaining.

It is not the role of government to educate people. Therefore, we are in the mess. Get rid of all funding and let the colleges and universities do what they wish. And stop trying to provide feel good solutions. The crap doesn't work.

And putting someone in a college that is academically harder than you can handle is a recipe for failure. And that happens often. You need to read or look up n YouTube some Thomas Sowell.

And there are other colleges. So, you don't go to some fancy college. You can still go to college
