This video should be how to craft a leather sheaths that triple the value of the shove. The movie Shrek should have been titled Donkey. That is the most fantastic upgrade that changed the entire value of the shovel. And you offhandedly say, oh this old thing? I would love to buy a couple of those sheaths from you. Hey how do you like the leather sheath? Thinking of making one for fun as much as function, but the nylon store bought sheaths are so cheap dont know if it's worth the trouble. Especially since I think of my shovel as a tool more than a weapon (that deserves a nice leather home).

Mainly used for digging...bullshit, I'm going to use mine to chop Zombie Heads off.
Chop down trees, add a longer handle and use it as a Spear. Maybe as a frying pan.

sure you can defend yourself with this, but it has so much other outdoor uses you can use it for a axe saw and hammer. For backpacking it is a lightweight tool that has many uses so it is worth lugging around. But as a civilian outdoorsman I can't imagine to many situations to defend myself against in the forest. A Trench shovel against a Bear lol. At best this would help you defend against a rabid varmit, something small

@elkhills1 If I didn't do my own leatherwork I'd stick with the nylon sheath. If you have the skills a leather sheath is worth the time.
