It’s honestly crazy that you spend the same on transportation as for groceries

The way you structure it based on percentages gives it a different perspective. I track all of percentages but more so after allocating the money instead of before, we do fall pretty close to some of these guidelines such as the amount to mortgage/rent. Always good things to think about.

Most people pay closer to 40-50% of salary on housing here in the NYC.

There is no way anyone is going to give away $640/ month while only having $200/ total between two people for an allowance. This should probably be reversed.

Given the current situation in most states could you do a moc monthly budget for unemployment people. For example my state pays me $362 a week before taxes, thats almost $500 less than i made per week working. Itll take alot of adjusting

Hi Marissa, you are wise beyond your years with money. Could you and Jacob do a video of how you both were raised to think/handle money?

I don't know how but our family of 8 (extended family) can survive with $400 of monthly income ($100 rent excluded) here in the Philippines, and we still live fairly okay.

I'm not sure about this, but our budget might be

-$100 for rent, a good house with 4 rooms and 2 bathrooms, and also has a large space inside, but no backyard lol
-$150 for the groceries because I don't know, we live like that
-$100 for utilities. $40 for electricity, $15 for water, $18 for the internet. it depends, but we're thrifty so it's probably less than that. My phone also just got paid last month, and that's $18.80 I guess.
-$10 for transportation I guess, because we don't go out that much and my sister buys groceries using her bicycle.
-$10 dollars for school supplies, we only need simple things in school lol.
-$150 for our school allowance before the pandemic, but we do't have that now, so we save a lot of money. (btw I have 2 sisters who still study, and yes the three of us only receive like $6 dollars a day, and we still save some money from that. our school is cheap)
-$20 dollars for the random items we buy online lol

this is a bit more than our budget, but this is just my approximation. Before the pandemic, we have about no savings at all, but now we have a bit because of the absence of the school allowance. Our only source of income is my sister on the US because he drives Uber (not sure xD). She lives a decent life there with her husband and three kids, so she just gives us the money she gets from Uber (again, I'm not sure if it's just from her husband).

I'm watching this because I have a dream. I don't like this life, and I want to be an astronomer. I know that I'm smart, (yeah, fuck humbleness) but I procrastinate too much so I'm not sure about my future lol.

I just don’t understand how people spend so little.

I would be interested in your thoughts about all the chaos going on in Portland these past eight weeks.

For one of your budgets will you talk about if you are paying off debt?

How high of income are you going to do a video on in this series?

I think if I had 100k a year with my husband, it'd be a lot easier to budget, but we're at like... 50k a year with a new baby on the way, and I'm thinking about reducing my hours when the time comes. 😅

Question about the budget template - can I just buy it ounce or do I need to buy it again every-time I want to make a new budget?
