Thanks Nigel. I put you on pause, and ordered it by 3 minutes in! Great to see so many enthusiastic contributors to the history of the Lancaster. I like to use all of the resources available when researching a build, and this kind of archive really is invaluable. I can't wait for your build. Thanks again.

Well that answers our question about the pilot's parachute in no uncertain terms! I happily yield the point, some were clearly hung behind the pilot, others were sat on. Fantastic research resource there Nige, strongly tempted to get a copy for myself. Great vid and highly informative, many thanks.

Hi Nigel this is the book of choice for the Lancaster enthusiast who wants to make the most accurate replica or wants to know what the lumps and bumps are on the airframe. Actually this is the book I got my info from for your build of the Revel kit last year and the differences made to it on the assembly line. I thought I was clued up on the Lanc and I've been studying it and its aircrews for the last 40 years! it just goes to show you never stop learning.

Hi Nigel. The postman dropped the book of this morning and its a cracking read. Very interesting and perfect reference material for the incoming Border Lanc. 👍

Hi Nige, thanks for the review and looking forward to the build. You highlighted your problem with Victorious Virgin and the ‘missing’ window.. Not that I doubt you but I did a quick google search and the first photo image thrown up is colourised (admittedly) showing the crew crouched with a cookie at her nose…. The larger window you indicated is quite clearly there and it appears to be the smaller lozenge shaped window slightly forward that is omitted.. As you have the plastic to hand and can therefore gauge the necessary work better I’m not sure whether this has a more favourable impact on your decision of subject… It’ll look stunning whichever cheers

Great looking book. It would have been nice if there were any colourized images that included ground equipment such as the tractors and bomb trolleys. Maybe then we could answer that aged old question of "was RAF ground equipment painted in that blue colour?".

Their books are great. The German nightfighter series are lovely.

Does it mention the reinforcement strakes fitted to upper wings behind the outboard engines? Those are on G for George in the Australian War Memorial. Were they fitted on the production line for early B1 Lancs, or were they fitted after doing high hours and landings?

Sold! Took me until 5 minutes to get it ordered. Looks like a cracking source of info. It has always struck me that POS is an unfortunate code for S for Sugar!

Just finished a model lanc with radial engines, approx 300+ were built due to a shortage of merlins.
