I am 11months into my locs, everything you mentioned is so true. I have always gone to the hair salon or kept my hair neat. Locs is a freedom I've never given my hair to display. No chemicals, no dyes and not caring what people think.

Loved this video queen 🙌🏾, i am 4mos into my 2nd journey and i am super excited. My hair is bunching like crazy and i actaully love the ununiformed look on myself as well. Most people talk about it as if it is something that needs to be fixed. But i loved when yannie the locologist explained it as having a birth mark and is something that does not need to be fixed. But to each its own i guess. Im going to embrace my bumpy, curly, lumpy babies. Beautiful locs!!

My locs are frizzing, shrinking, and budding. I did starter locs on my shoulder length natural hair. It definitely wasn't what I expected. But I love my mane.

I’ve been contemplating locking my hair and actually bought all the stuff to do it at home today. I’m planning to put in twists this weekend and see where things go!

I was really worried about them being “ugly” and frizzy because my family is from the Caribbean and I honestly didn’t realize how much texturism I’ve internalized. But your video reassured me that our hair is beautiful in every form and I feel ready to start this journey so thank you 💕💕

What a wonderfully well-rounded video on the topic of what to expect within the first year or so of one's loc journey.

I had locs for seven years. I cut them off for deeply personal reasons. I am currently growing out my hair again to restart my locs.

I am genuinely excited about the prospect of regrowing my locs since I learned so much both through my own experience and through the study of locs and of hair (specifically afro hair) in general.

I consider myself somewhat of a loc veteran, although there is always room to learn more. One thing that I have learned is that what happens to me on the inside (my internal environment) is at least as important as what happens on the outside. That is - my dietary choices, the degree to which I keep myself hydrated, my overall physical wellness, and my mental/emotional health. All of that is as significant as washing, oiling the scalp, moisturizing, covering the hair at night, etc.

Much Respect and Much Love to you! Thank you for this video! 💛🙏💛

I found this video for a reason. I began my loc journey today and I didn’t realize how much heat damage I had in two areas in the front. I’m just praying I don’t chicken out and cut off my hair.

This is such welcomed information. My hair looks a lot like yours. The fatties (my buds) are entertaining and they all have their own personalities. I’m 7 months in and everyday I give them a little pep talk and I’m so proud of them. I don’t want to over-product them because I’m not washing as much as I would ordinarily. I’m finding tea tree sprays between wash days are helpful and rose water and a light oil are working for scalp and locs. Thanks for sharing.

I'm on my second set of locs (my first set I had for 2.5 years w/ 93 locs) and this set I have 45 and it's been 2 months. And it's so much harder this time around... I even bought conditioner to comb them out, but one of them started budding and now I feel like I'm betraying my hair if I give up so soon. Pray for me. 😭❤ Love your channel.

I’m almost 4 months into my microloc journey (250+ locs started as coils maintained with interlocking) and I struggled feeling comfortable with myself with my locs but as time goes on I LOVE THEM 🥹
