I’m 43 and potentially in position to retire well before I hit 50... thanks to budgeting 😎

Debt free for the last 4 years and mortgage will be paid off next year.

I use the free Every Dollar version and round up to the nearest $5 on everything.

If I have $400 for groceries and only spend $387, then see I’m coming up short somewhere else, I move that $13 over to the other category I’m coming up short. I do that currently to stay at the zero base. I could definitely use more tips to figure out the finessing more.

I would love to see a series where you take real people and help them set up an actual budget. Seeing that process and that thinking would be so helpful.

I've created a spreadsheet to help me to budget. I also set all of my bills to go out on the first day of the month. That way I know how much I have left.

Since I started doing a monthly budget two years ago, I can not wait til the next meeting to do it again with my husband. He was bored the couple first months. Believe it or not he is asking me now to do it and check it every Sunday! We start winning with money. Hooray! We killed so far 3 Ccs!

Both you and your dad are seriously perfect at financial advice. I first saw you through the financial peace university and I absolutely love how you engage the viewer. I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers, your videos are very well done. I'm definitely impressed but hey the apple doesn't fall far from the tree

The more I follow the baby steps and the every dollar app, the less stress I have with what I should do. Thank you! The fund feature on the app makes planning for quarterly and yearly bills on a monthly budget easy! Thank you!

I finally listened. I have been using cash for groceries and gas etc. It has really helped me save and not overspend. It keeps me on budget. I just use a credit card for things that save me money a few things that are on autopay. Other then that I pay cash. I am really trying to stick to this. That way when I get paid my whole check is not owed out to credit cards.

I can't say I'm a hard core budgeting guy, but I am constantly reviewing my finances (like daily) so I know where my money is going and how much is going there. Then I'm super frugal and pay off debt fast!

Thanks Rachel. Just started reading your new book. My income is so random, it's hard for me to budget, but I need to.

A few years ago I didn't have budget, i have tried a few times but it was too difficult, but now I know why. Because I was spending like crazy and it might be a problem when you end up your day with 30 receipts and you try to put everything into excel forn.. so my advice would be to control the spending first, so you dont spend 2 hours with your excel everyday. It's less hassle then 😂 now when I go shopping once or twice per week (due to well known situation) and visit 2-3 shops max it is really not a problem, it has become a routine. And it is really good to know where your money goes and how much you have actually left, no need to mention the emergency founds! Peace

Without a budget you really don’t know what your expenses are versus your income. Not an option if you want to have financial freedom!

Qube money is a great budgeting app for the envelope system aswell ! Only drawback is that its still in beta. Also if you have an irregular income you can try to get ahead one month on your expenses so for the following month you will always have your bills paid and of course prioritize the 4 walls

I didn't budget at first but I was already the kind of person that saves so much of my money that I make anyway and then I budgeted for a bit and it didn't really do anything for me and I calculated that with my current income that isn't that high that I save like 66.98% of my income after taxes anyway and when I get my income higher I will save even more of my money. I mean I'm not moved out yet but the reason that is, is because I plan on getting into OTR trucking and if I do that I would never be home so it wouldn't make sense for me to move out and buy or rent a place because of that anyway. So I wouldn't be saving as much if I moved out but I would still save a decent amount though and as I get my income up I would save more of it. Because a friend of mine was telling me how he would struggle to not overspend on going out to eat because he found out Grub hub will deliver to his house now so I did a thing where I write down each week how much my max eating out is which is $35 a week and I write down how much it is each time I go out to eat and see if I stay under there and usually don't even go to half of that amount one time I was like a few dollars off from it though. But besides that I don't keep track of everything like I used to for a while when I did budget. But most people do need to budget most people are not like me and don't need to budget so for a lot of people budgeting would help them out a ton.

I find it hard to budget when my husband has no long term goals for us. How does anyone else get their husband to agree on a budget? We have only house debt and money in bank.

How do you deal with extra expenses that come out of nowhere? We’re trying to do baby step 1, but have random big expenses every month that prevent us from doing so! For instance, heavy vet bills, doctors bills, that kind of thing.
