This was one of a bunch of classic films that was re-released to the big screen in the 70s or 80s. I was so fortunate to see this on a huge screen with a wonderful sound system. I will never forget it.

6:01 - I think I remember learning that number 19 was not originally in the script — Christopher Plummer just messed up his line, but both actors stayed in character. That little smile at 6:06 was probably Julie Andrews trying not to laugh at the flubbed line, but it's also fitting to the scene, as though Maria is amused to see the Captain flustered, and she is starting to get an idea that they're both in love with each other.

The whole thing makes me laugh.

The whole film is iconic from start to finish and to find just 60 moments is hard. The best moments probably depend on the age you are when you watch it. Some moments like Liesl's introduction and the stinging putdowns that the Captain gives to Herr Zeller are missing. My personal favourite is #18 Edelweiss since I thought CP was so gorgeous in this film. The film is a winner thanks to all involved, director, script writer, the music, songs and scenery and the excellent acting of all involved noteably, Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer and Eleanor Parker.

*You ask... what is my favourite scene.... well it was the whole movie.... When it starts at the beginning with the scenery up in the mountains.. I know the exact spot where Julie Andrews will start singing.... to the very final scene on the movie. 🙂 I have watched it so many times... in fact every xmas day for so many years, New Zealand played the movie on TV.... I have the DVD. Congrats "The Sound of Music" on reaching the "60 year anniversary 1965 to 2025". 🙂 Rest in peace to the cast members & crew that have gone before us.*

Thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute to Julie 🌹🙏🙏❤️‍🩹 Andrews and this is one of my favorite movies and musicals that I will cherish forever! I wish 🙏🙏 they would make movies and musicals today like they made in the past like The Sound of Music and The Wizard of Oz! I lived through such a great era and I was fortunate to take My Aunt, Sister Mary Delores Foley who is a Sister of Saint Joseph to The Musical, The Sound of Music 🎵🎶 in Boston, Massachusetts, at The Wang Theatre! She could relate to it because she entered the Convent as soon as she graduated from High School and she dedicated her whole life to teaching and loved teaching students! May every one please have a blessed day ❣️🙏 and pray 🙏🙏 for Peace in the World 🌎! Amen 🙏🙏❤️‍🩹

The reason this movie turned out to be a winner is because the director Robert Wise, Producer Saul Chaplin and script by Ernest Lehman took all the sugary stuff from the stage production and threw it away and made it realistic! Christopher Plummer once said the camera never lies and it's Julie Andrews movie from start to finish!

This was my favourite film in the world, I had my grandmother make me some of the dresses in the film when I was a child. I read the book Maria and it absolutely ruined my romantic memories of this film. If you love this film do not read the book - Maria: A Novel of Maria Von Trapp. You'll come away feeling disgusted from her.
