The World Health Organization has agreed to Phase III testing of African herbal remedies to fight COVID-19. Any traditional remedies that are judged effective could be fast-tracked for large-scale manufacturing. How should journalists cover this important story? How should rumours and misinformation about traditional medicines be addressed? What does it mean when science takes a serious look at traditional medicine?
These are some of the interesting questions that our presenters Dr. Ossy Kasilo, WHO Regional Adviser for Traditional Medicine at the Regional Office for Africa, and Dr. Jaya Shreedhar, medical doctor and health journalist, discussed with journalists at our fifth Media Dialogue.
