COVID-19 Vaccines and Reproductive Health - ESAR RCCE Media Dialogue
Показать описание
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports there is no evidence that vaccine ingredients or antibodies made following COVID-19 vaccination would cause any problems with becoming pregnant now or in the future, and that no evidence shows that any vaccines, including COVID-19 vaccines, cause male fertility problems. Despite this, rumours about the impact of the Covid-19 vaccines on pregnancies, on virility, and on the risks of breastfeeding after getting vaccinated, have persisted in the East and Southern African region.
To address these issues, we are joined by Dr. Phionah Atuhebwe, vaccinologist and sexual and reproductive health specialist at the WHO, and Internews Pandemic Media Mentor Dr. Jaya Shreedhar. Dr. Atuhebwe addresses the many questions about the relationship between Covid vaccines and reproductive health, while Dr. Shreedhar talks directly to journalists in attendance about how they can approach these issues in their reporting on the Covid-19 pandemic.
This Media Dialog is brought to you by the Media Taskforce of the Eastern and Southern Africa Inter-Agency working group for Risk Communication and Community Engagement (ESAR RCCE).
