The Day of GIANTS... MONSTER Kingfish ( Commercial Fishing)

This is my favorite time of year! Big kingfish have moved down to South Florida, to spawn offshore and it creates an incredible opportunity for commercial fisherman to target these fish. Rod and reel commercial king fishing is great, because unlike netting theres no bycatch, and quotas are easily calculated as each and every single fish is accounted for. The fish you see in this video are brought to a distribution center where they are sold for a profit and will be shipped to restaurants, seafood markets and grocery stores. I love this fishery because unlike a large scale corporate boat, this puts money in the pockets of local citizens! We use a rig called a triple hook to target these fish, this makes hooking up easier and eliminates the need for wire. The reason you don't see us ice our fish immediately, is because when the bite is hot you need to capitalize on every single fish before the school leaves, so theres no time to waste. This is very customary in any commercial fishing operation to leave fish on the deck, until the bite is over. The boat we fish on has a specialized kingfish permit which allows us to keep as many fish as we do!
