QRO Has Got Me In A Funk

Did you know that I went to college on a Music Composition scholarship? I would be a great film composer or, more likely, a GrubHub driver. Thankfully, I became obsessed with microcomputers while in college. I got a professional computer programming job before I graduated. While I've made money in the past as a musician and a photographer, computer software has been my career.

Thanks to the video's star, my good friend Doug Miller (W4DML), who appears to be impervious to embarrassment. He is a ham video creator's best friend. Thank you, Doug!

Disclaimer: I can do a decent job as a background singer, but I am not a lead singer. I didn't have anyone to record the lead vocal, so I did it myself. I want you to know that it could have been better if a more talented singer had recorded the lead vocal.

Written, Arranged, and Produced
by Cliff Batson (N4CCB)

Holy moly! As a music-gear nerd, I've often wondered what sorts of stuff you do when I've seen your keyboard in the background of a video. You've been holding out on us! And don't knock your vocals, they fit this one just fine. Production quality on this is superb. Bravo!!!

Fantastic! Great arrangement, lyrics, musicians and production. I love “Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?” at the end - That’s one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a long time. I’m glad I was at FDIM to see the world premier of this video!

I've noticed down through the years that there's something about Radio, Photography, Computers and music that draws a lot of us together. It's like an illness with us :D I'm currently head first down the EMACS rabbit hole and I bet you've been there too. That was a great tune Chris, very well done.

Absolutely fantastic! I love this song! Totally awesome arrangement and performance. Hot guitar too! Being a professional guitarist loving funk and jazz and a QRP HAM, this really gets me going. I was practically dancing in my chair. You were telling me you were a 'Yellow Jackets' fan and now I can tell. Well done, Cliff!

I'm a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, (retired now, ) and more importantly, a QRP fanatic. I've been licensed for 50+ years (W2BX/QRP).

What a fantastic production! Guitar leads are incredible and of course the message... QRO /QRP. I just got my QRP 100 country award all with 5 watts CW and a wire antenna. I'll never do QRO... oh maybe if 6 meters opens up (hi hi)

Lord, have mercy. That is brilliant! I’ve got to ask; the photos of you looking out the window has an old console radio behind you that looks like my parents old Philco Am/SWL and turn table. That was the first short wave I ever listened too. Radio Moscow was loud on 40 meters at night. Of course, bragging about hearing radio Moscow in the ‘50s in Texas wasn’t really a good thing to do….. Brought by memories. Thanks for the memories.

Had to watch it twice in a row. Couldn't see the whole thing through my tears of laughter the first time. Thanks, Cliff.
