I hate to say it but I bought one of these and I ran it through a clean amp and it sounded nothing like this recording are you running that through a clean channel or an overdrive tone and how much post production do you have on that tune cuz mine sounds nothing like that

I just bought an Apex Preamp! wow! amazing! 
Here my question: I want to play at home and do recording in my PC. What is better with this pedal: mini amp tube like Laney irt-studio or a small combo transistor amp like Katana 100 or Fender GT-100 ? In front of the amp or in effects loop? 
Or just use it with headrush frfr-108?
any suggestion?
