Pro Tip, instead of 4 tight coils, make 2 big loops. You will have less twisting of the inside the cable. Wire don't just ignite, there was a short caused by damage to the cable. We always tell our customers this when we do installs.

I realise the original video was some 6 months ago, but I haven’t seen anyone comment on the fact that if an electrical cable of any description is coiled, it generates heat. My tip is you need to uncoil the cable from the wall charger, otherwise it will generate heat. That’s why extension cables always (or should) have a warning on them not to use them without uncoiling the cable. Many years ago a church was heating a full body baptismal font with a 2, 400W immersion heater in the afternoon, an hour or two prior to a baptism that was to take place in the evening. The cable of the heater was very long and to avoid a trip hazard, they coiled the excess cable on the wooden floor, only to arrive at the church for the service to find the cable had burnt its way through the floor! Thankfully it didn’t result in the church burning down, but it was a salient lesson on what NOT to do with an electrical cable. Always uncoil them, or at least make sure the coil isn’t too tight as to generate heat.

I wish you would be more specific about how this happened and how to avoid having it happen… I don’t know how to be careful because I’m such a new Tesla owner and I’m just about to install a charger in my own garage. What should I do or not do to make sure this never happens to me???? 🙏🙏🙏Please! Any advice would be most appreciated!!!😊🙏

Tesla needs to incorporate some type of overheating detection or shutoff switch.

Question, I’m asking in honest genuine curiosity cause I install EV chargers (not Tesla kind) but who installed it? Like an electrician who works only for Tesla or a random electrician?

Same happened to me . At first I bought an off brand Chinese model that made weird
Noises and black smoke came out. The new one I got melted like that . I think I had power issues and it got overloaded for
Not having the right fuses at home

Dude you need to upsize the wire.
The charger don’t cause heat.

Thank good Ness your safe this is why you hire certified installers and only buy your country certified equipment
That could have been worse that vould have burned your whole house down

if cable would be badly produced, it would burn its entire length, not only that short piece
