I wish I could play this as I have played every one of them. But unfortunately I have a 5 month old baby with some health issues so I have to prioritise my time for him witch I love doing so watching this channel has kept me going and believing one day I will play but until then super dad will be looking after his herd.

Can you do one that shows the difference in yield between all of them or a video stating how to get the maximum yield from a field? Love the videos! Always come to you first when I have questions on game mechanics.

Shallow Cultivation (disc harrows and some cultivators) = preps field for seeding, no small or large stones, increases weed growth. This means you don't have to hire a stone collector and field prep is more straightforward BUT you probably spend a little more money/time on weeding if you have that switched on.

I shallow cultivated and then seeded a field waited just one day and the weeds were already above 50%. Normally theyd grow slow but I hadnt tested wether a dragged weeder would work. Likely outcome is that shallow cultivation is quicker for planting but the weeds grow so fast that you spend a lot on Herbicide as a trade off.

It all really depends what you can afford. Some power harrows can be attached to seeders or even attached to the front of tractors so you can cultivate and see at the same time, like a makeshift direct drill.

It's great that we have this wide variety but the tooltips / help info aren't exactly explanatory of the advantages and disadvantages of each type of field prep.

We need all of the same tests that you did in fs19. Plus the weight of a tractor to pulling power.

Still helping people across the web...
Love this style of directly coming to the point; when the video was done, I felt like we were only halfway. Now I want to watch more.
Have another subscriber :D

I think there should be a min till (minimum tillage) bonus. Like if you used disks or maybe the shallow cultivator for 3yrs without using others you would get a 10% yeild bonus, because the low disturbance (working only on the first few inches/centimeters) preserves the bacteria in the soil and keeps a nutritious seed bed.

Whereas with plowing and cultivating etc. you are moving large amounts of soil and disturbing the ground, you dont give the ground the chance to build as good nutrition.

The disadvantage of min till in fs could be that you need to use herbicide twice, once after agitating the ground with disks and once when sown. Keep in mind I don't think direct drill should have the bonus because you save time, and from personal experience irl, direct drill brings up large amounts of stones.

Idk just an idea.

I found your channel with your test videos sometime last year. With graduating college and getting a job, I haven’t had much time to watch but I’ve been wanting to so badly. So glad I did, now I’ll just be binging all the recent videos. Sorry I’ve missed so many…but I’m back! Missed ya Farmer Cop!!!

It seems that if you plow a field, no weeds grow in it during that entire crop. However, if you use a subsoiler, you will have to spray for weeds.
I plow everytime and have yet to need a sprayer.

What people forever seem to overlook is that most of the non-direct seeders in the base game are bought in combo with and dire tly mounted to a harrow, which cultivates and renders most of these other tools optional. You can take them straight onto a harvested field, just like a direct seeder. This is also why their bhp requirement is so high, though the stated requirement assumes you turn the harrow on.

Fantastic! I used a mulcher today and was wondering what it was actually doing. %5 yield bonus. Good to know. Thanks Farmer Cop👨‍🌾

TBH, from a "realism" perspective, I'm kinda sad periodic plowing doesn't work for ALL fields like it did in 19 and prior. It was something to plan for, and made sense, that after a certain number of harvests your field would need "rejuvenation" by plowing, deeply turning the soil, versus just skimming over the top with a cultivator over and over and over.

Some of these look like they are for the precision farming mod to come later as they don' seem to be much different from each other except for the plow and subsoiler

Helpful info as always! You need to do a yield size test asap like you did in FS19! Surprised the game doesn't show you this, but having an idea of how much of a crop I'm gonna get for same size field is very useful info!

I think the field plowing change is great for exchange for stone picking, I love the farming simulator games but there's really only so many times a person can drag some type of implement across a field before its no longer fun

FC, these are my favorite videos! I really appreciate the time that it takes to set up and run the tests because it saves me so much time in game!

But FS17 was the one that needed ploughing every three harvests. FS19 just after certain crop types, and lime every three harvests.

Skorpychan

Just a note. You didn't have to plow every three harvests in FS19 either, only after doing corn, sugar beet and potatoes. Lime was every three harvests. (And I believe it still is, haven't tested it yet)

8:48 there are small stones in the ground inside the texture space, so the shallow cultivator does bring up small stones. At least it appears that way.
