ABOUT VIDEO:
In today's video, I have to go over something that's a common problem in After Effects. And that is color banding or video posterization. I go over procedural steps in order to fix this gradient color banding issue in After Effects. I go over steps including adding more color bits per channel, changing the color space, increasing the bit rate, adding noise and scatter, and experimenting by creating and adding texture overlays to get rid of the video banding. Hopefully by the end of this video, something will have helped you!

This helped me really well with the banding problem on my AE project; but it's so much more than that. This video brought up on the surface so many great features that I wasn't even aware of; ....for instance those many Working Color Space settings! Thank you so much.

I also switch from VBR (variable bit rate) to CBR (constant bit rate) so that it doesn't try to reuse and recycle pixels from the previous frame. These are all some awesome tips but that last one is golddd. Thanks for putting this together!

The tip using the texture is the winner. The texture is forcing the encoder to keep many, many, more pixels rather than duplicating and discarding. I've been looking for a solution to this problem for a while. Thank you!

Thank you much! i was so desperate! What worked for me the best was 16 bit, small bitrate raise and noise 2%. The texture also worked instead of noise but it was too visible, maybe cause my scene is very dark.
