Google rats and Jim's Steaks and you will see Inside Edition's news footage of this place. Google Jim's Steaks and man tasered. If that is not enough we went to Jim’s Steaks and are writing to tell you why you should never go there again. There was a long line so I went upstairs to grab a table while my fiancé ordered food. One of the employees, Eric, started harassing me, calling me sweetheart. He hovered over me, got in my face, and tried to intimidate me simply because I was sitting at a table. I told Eric that if he had a problem with me sitting at the table he should get a manager. Instead of getting a manager Eric sat down at the table and told me that he wasn’t going to leave. This is the kind of comment a stalker would make and I felt extremely uncomfortable. I explained to Eric that my fiancé was ordering food, but he kept blathering on that I must have food to sit at a table despite the fact that there were open tables available. I explained to Eric that I had surgery recently and needed to sit down but he couldn’t have cared less. He continued to sit across from me in an attempt to intimidate and harass me. I told Eric that if he had a problem with me sitting at the table, he should get a manager. Instead he continued to invade my personal space. Had this issue been about the restaurant’s policy, Eric would have had no problem getting his manager. No, this was an attempt to harass and bully me because I was a woman sitting by myself. Despite my continued requests for Eric to leave me alone, he continued to invade my personal space and make me feel incredibly uncomfortable. Fearing for my safety, I went downstairs to find the manager. It only took a few minutes of speaking with the manager to see why Eric felt like he could harass a customer. The manager showed no concern for the way Eric had acted and stated that you must have food to sit at a table. I explained to the manager that there were open tables available when I sat down, so I wasn’t denying anyone a seat. The manager couldn’t have cared less. With the manager not being of any help, we asked to speak with the owner. Moments later Ken Silver, the owner of Jim’s Steaks, stormed down the stairs. He didn’t listen to a word me or my fiancé had to say. He called my fiancé and I racists, which is patently absurd. When we asked the owner why he chose to accuse us of being racist he said that it was because we, being white, accused a young black man of harassing me. The truth of the matter is that being called racists had nothing to do with racism and everything to do with Silver trying to deflect from what his employee had done. We told Silver that we did not have a problem with Eric because of the color of his skin. We had a problem with the inappropriate way that Eric behaved toward me. At that point the owner told my fiancé and I to get out of his restaurant even though we were already on our way out the door. Despite the fact that we were leaving, the owner chased after us, yelling like a lunatic, causing us to turn around only to find him shaking his finger in our faces screaming at us further until we walked out of the door. It’s ludicrous that a restaurant doesn’t allow customers to sit at a table while food is being ordered. Not to mention we are not from the area nor had we ever heard of such a policy, nor did we see posted signs so it’s ridiculous to fault us for that. I should not have been confronted by Eric in the way that I was and Eric harassing me is inexcusable. As atrocious as Eric’s behavior was, Ken Silver’s was even worse. Instead of listening to our concerns, he chose to attack us and make false accusations. He knew that what his employee did was wrong, so he tried to deflect and put the blame on us. Silver’s success in business has given him a sense of entitlement and he feels like he can twist the truth and treat people however he wants, even though the business was inherited, and he didn’t work hard for any success the business has had.
