My grandpa had Zastava 600 in early 70s, and he bought the car first and then he took road tests with instructor in his own car to get license. It was really a people car, since he could maintain it himself and since he knew quite well with machines it was easy to keep it running. Then in 80s he got Lada 2106, and in the early 2000s Fiat Bravo GT. Since he liked motor sports Fiat was his favorite car in the fleet, it looks sporty, had buttons to play with, firm suspension and for a diesel it had a engine that could pull fast, well much faster than Lada and Zastava, he even once shifted a gear without pressing a clutch, and my father was quite agitated, but he said calmly “don’t worry this is a modern car, it has semi automatic gearbox”, even if that is far from true, he truly believed it does have such gearbox. He had a quite childish curiosity when he would sit in high tech cars with someone else, everything was interesting for him, how it works, how powerful the engine is, what certain buttons do, how fast can reach 100 km/h and I am really sorry that majority of people don’t look cars like that anymore but look them with lack of enthusiasm and as things to go from point A to B.

I am really sorry that Zastava never had engineering skills to make a proper car without license. Nice video, can’t wait for part 2!

Yugo was not copy of Fiat 127, it was hand written at Zavodi Crvena Zastava, Zavodi for cars.It was first our people car made at Zastava and we had awsome enginers at that time
