We reunited with our Hutong uncle in Beijing, China 🇨🇳

In today's video, we return to the Hutong for the first time since we met Douye, the amazing uncle who we met on our first visit to China. Since we loved the Hutong so much last time, we thought it was a great idea to actually stay inside a traditional Chinese Hutong home. We get to experience the authentic old Beijing courtyard home and reunite with our hutong uncle. We bring gifts for him and he prepared the famous Beijing hotpot, Shaunyangrou for us. He was excited to show us his former work and we cycled around the Hutong on his tricycle. After chatting, drinking a lot of Baijiu and eating delicious lamb we call it a night and head back to our humble hutong home. In the morning we enjoyed coffee in the courtyard before heading out for a staple beijing breakfast, Zhajiang Noodles.

After living in the Beijing Hutong for 24 hours, we can’t help but wish it was for 24 days. Huge thank you again to our uncle Douye, one of the most genuine people you will ever meet in the world.

Whether you’re from Newcastle for Beijing, we’re all the same.

I'm only 20 minutes in but I had to pause and comment...this is such a heart warming video.. beautiful relationship between strangers who are now friends.. it's makes me so mad that governments try to separate us.. cause animosity.. most people in the world are wonderful.. it's the governments, east and west, that sow seeds of mistrust and hatred.. that's why Jack and Paige, your videos are important... hello from Ireland 🇮🇪🇮🇪

Jack is very smart, and quick to learn. Now he has picked up quite a number of Chinese sentences and can have a conversation with the locals in simple mandarin. Thumbs up.

Jack, you really have an incredible talent for languages! You’ve only studied for thirty hours and can already speak so much Chinese! I love watching your videos. I saw the one where you met the older gentleman, and now there’s a follow-up—it’s like a perfect crossover! You and Paige are both open-minded, friendly, and adorable. Wishing you both a fantastic journey!

This made me literally jump for joy and holler as I watched it! I was so touched and happy to see you chatting with the Uncle. I haven't really seen someone do something like that to the extent you did. Every sentence had me smiling and feeling like I could travel and know the world and people as you two do.

what Chines culture attracts foreigners is the real connection among people, no matter who you are, where you from, you can always feel warm hearted

Paige was emotional when had the meal with Beijing uncle. I guess she was touched by sincerity and kindness of that old guy. Experiencing unique Beijing culture in person through exploring Hutong and making friends with locals is amazing! Jack's progress on Chinese shocked me as well. He is so talented and brave and try very hard to express himself in Chinese. ❤❤❤❤

I have been feeling low in mood these past few days, but watching this video has lifted my spirits, I love how excited Jack is and his love of China really comes through, I too have such love for everything China, but sadly im stuck here in the UK and can not express how I feel,

I ask with open heart to all the Chinese people watching Jacks videos that he is the type of person you want coming to your country and do not give time to these other bloggers who just use China to boost their views - Jack is honest and open and shows the real China and takes time to mix with the local people, To the people of China you should start pushing back on the bloggers who are just using your hospitality for their own needs and instead embrace people like Jack and Paige

Watching the whole thing with my wife after work. Both absolutely loving it. Yet again another proper travel video. Picking up language, being respectful, wholesome fun and your love for the people shines through 👌

I loved this! I like that you are not just an observer. Unlike other vloggers who put their eurocentric twist and many time racist orientalist twist on things, you make the effort, are humble and respectful. Really nice touch putting subtitles for english and chinese speakers. Also, you are both so very sweet. I say you and Mike Okay are my favourite vloggers.
