A Lego plane with actual space for passengers? No way..

So I looked it up after the fact and though V-tails have been proposed on big passenger planes long ago, no production units flew them. V-tails are more popular than ever, however, on near-future airliner concepts. In ~10 years probably a lot of folks who resolutely poo'd on the very idea of the v-tail in this set will be taking flights on v-tail planes while looking at the latest LEGO unveilings online

Glad to see they're finally putting realistic-sized engines on the planes. This would have made childhood me soo happy.

As a ramp agent, I'm a big fan of a few things:

The towbarless pushback unit looks exactly like the ones American uses at their hubs, albeit a different color.

The catering truck is nice.

Minifigs with hearing protection is great to see.

The tug (vehicle that pulls bag carts) is based off an electric model which is used in bagrooms to avoid the accumulation of hazardous exhaust fumes. The tug is pulling a cart with a ULD on it and the ULDs are super well designed.

Wish it came with another bag cart but oh well.

High visibility vests are good.

Plane looks nice, engines are too big but realistically positioned under the wing.

A fuel truck or potable water hose would have been a good addition.

Jet bridge would have been cool but would have raised the price significantly. Air stairs are fine but could have used better railings.

Wish the first class area was a bit better defined. Maybe a different colored floor or something.

No Flight Attendant??? Seriously??

That tail configuration looks funky on a passenger jet, as it looks like it was pulled from a Stealth Fighter. Definitely makes it look pretty good and unique though. Overall looks like a very good set for people making an airport for their City .

I like the V tail design but as far as I know that design hasn't been used on large airliners like that. It's been used on smaller personal planes like the V-Tail Bonanza but with a questionable at best safety record.

I dig the V-Tail. What's great about a toy is that it's not bound to physics and reality. You can do things that look cool just for the fun of it, even if it's not 100% practical in reality. 👏 to the LEGO designer.

This is actually an entire play set all on it’s own. Love that it comes with so many good/relevant side builds. Add in an air port bldg and you’re good to go.

The US price may just be pricey but it’s still a very nice passenger plane with a ton of space which is rare for LEGO.

This is, hands down, the BEST lego plane ever. The engines, the catering truck, the pushback tug, the inclusion of BUSNINESS CLASS, enough seats, a legit looking livery, and the detail!

In case anyone didn't notice, the passenger plane in this set has a dark blue, white, and lime green color scheme that is very similar to that of aircraft being developed for the Airbus ZEROe program. While this set is not licensed and the similar colors may just be a coincidence, it is possible that the color scheme of the aircraft in this set is an intentional reference to that program. Additionally, the larger number of seats could be owed to the fact that LEGO introduced a new, updated wing piece capable of sitting beneath the fuselage.

The fact that a V tail passenger jet doesnt exist in real life makes this one pretty interesting, I like it a lot. Also the interior is fantastic.

1:38 It's LEGO's version of a Heathrow Pod without a guideway. Or at least, that's what it reminds me of. London's Heathrow International Airport uses very similar vehicles.

That tail is certainly bizarre, but as JANG says, not unprecedented. One of the most famous examples is the original F117 Stealth Fighter. It doesn't really bother me too much, though I would have preferred a more traditional look. Obviously the best part is the fact that this can carry a lot of passengers! Thank you Lego, you finally get it!

I can already imagine this plane being modified by stretching the fuselage, landing gear, & adding an extra pair of those large high-bypass turbofans to the wings.🤩

I really wish lego would make a creator expert airliner set.

The 7893 plane from 2006 is definitely a worthy choice for the best plane ever in my opinion this one and that one are pretty comparable in terms of how good they are overall.

Easily THE best airplane set ever. Fantastic looking plane thanks to realistic cockpit, engine pod and wing design. Tons of fun AND realistic play features. Everything is well thought out, nothing feels cobbled together or cheaped out. Either they had an aviation enthusiast in the team or did some serious research (or both). PLEASE keep this level up in the city-line!

I commend Lego doing something different with the V-tail design. There aren't any V-tail airliners (as in large passenger jets) but it is present on smaller passenger planes and jets. At the end of the day it's a children's toy incorporating a little bit of fantasy that's not completely divorced from reality. If it really bothers people that it's not completely realistic they can do some rather simple modification by adding a vertical tail and folding the V down to be horizontal. From my understanding, the reason real world airliners don't utilize a V-tail design is more to do with safety regulations (and how they are worded) regarding stability and redunancy regarding engine failure of one or all engines, as opposed to how aerodynamically sound the design is. Thanks for the look and your thoughts on this set. Looks like a great set with a lot of playability.
