Don't forget that the frequent apologist claim that *all* disciples were killed for their faith is not backed up by any evidence either. So the "wouldn't die for a lie" argument fails on several levels at the same time.

100% chance the guy complaining that other people say Jesus is entirely made up thinks that Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Islam, Buddhism, etc. are entirely made up.

''My religion is true and all the others are false. My God is the only true God and all other Gods from all other religions are false God'' - said every theist of every religion.

The guy’s argument that major embellishment couldn’t happen in a 30 year period. In 30 years Superman went from leaping an eighth of a mile to flying faster than the speed of light.

People two thousand years ago who thought they talked about the entire world bud knew less than 5% of the total world's existence.

Religion exists because people like a single answer for everything. It's easier that way.

A Christian freind of mine was utterley convinced they had seen a miracle in church. She had seen god literally heal an amputee. God had given this man a whole new leg. This had not happened, at most he had walked in to the church with slight limp and walked out ok. But somehow the legend in the minds of both my freind and the church they attended had grown out of a very mundane and tiny thing. But that congregation was absolutely certain of what they had seen, and they had seen god do a miracle. Miracle claims mean nothing at all, but they are fascinating phenomena of how people can convince themselves of anything at all.

“You may have heard people say a bunch of logical stuff that makes our beliefs seem silly, but those are all lies…just trust me bro” 😂 sure buddy

"There's plenty of evidence for the Myth of Jesus not being a myth"

*Points to the book that contains these myths

They always bring up those later writers like Tacitus and Pliny the Younger. Those guys all wrote about christians and just explained what Christians believed. None of them validated those beliefs as being based in reality. They didn't rely on impartial records or other sources for their information.

It would be like writing about flat earthers. They believe the earth is flat. Me saying this does not, in any way, validate their claim. At best it provides a record that says 'in 2024 avi8r66 said flat earthers existed', that's all.

Pro tip for apologists: you can point out an endless list of differences between The Beatles and The Monkees, but none of that will erase the fact that one was unambiguously based on the other.

I need more thumbs up for using Star Trek to knock down religion.

Succinctly said, the only difference between myth and religion is the number of followers.

Claiming that no one could have come up with the ideas in the Jesus myth demonstrates either some serious lack of respect to the cognizance of our ancestors or a genuinely terrifying level of sheltered ignorance. There is NOTHING in Christianity that is unique among mythology.

"There's plenty of evidence. Just open the bible". I literally facepalmed hard enough to leave a handprint on my face.

I do tend to not believe made up things. Weird to call that a "block."

15:00 For the old "almost all secular historians accept that Jesus was real" claim, they always ignore the second part - "and almost none of them believe the miracles stuff or that he rose from the dead." Odd how they always like to resort to the authority of the secular historians for the existence of Jesus but when it comes to divinity, their opinion doesn't matter.

What I find funny is that Christianity isn't even original myths. Even the new testament is all copied from other religions. None of it is original at all. Sure, they changed names, places and times, but that's it. So somehow they claim it wasn't true and is just myths in those other religions, but when they copied their homework, it magically became true. The cognitive dissonance is insane.

Ah, a low-bar-bill argument... It's not that there's no evidence, it's that our standard for evidence is too high. 🤣

One guy calling out, "Hey, it didn't happen like that", occurs all the time and that guy is shouted down by the six other people in the room who want to believe the mistruth for whatever reason. You can watch that happen live in about any group on any given day. That it happened a few hundred times over 20-40 years to create a legend that the group benefited from is not even a mundane claim, it is nearly axiomatic.
