The Energy Band Theory describes the range of energy of an electron within the solid. It also specifies the range of energy that it may not have.
Here, you will be introduced to the energy band theory, that has been used to explain many physical properties of solids. Optical absorption and electrical resistivity are some of the properties that have been well explained by this theory.

1:45 that's not a valence band. The outermost orbit is the valence band and when the electron is elevated from the valence band by absorbing energy then it is said to be in the conduction band where the electrons freely moves. In conduction band the electrons are not bound to nucleus untill it loss energy equal to the band gap and reach the valence band.

1:55 how the electrons in that highlighted orbit is valence band or orbit???it's jst the 2nd energy level
the conductance band is supposed to be the valence another band which is outside the valence band or orbit which is emty should be called as conductance band

Useful information and well presented.
It is Electron band structure, not "electronic" band structure.

At Radomcorp, we have a ring of alumina ceramic conducting 200 amps of 2.45ghz RF current (making plasma) and the ceramic doesn't get hotter then 60C. I think the band theory has been disproven, or they need to make a new class for us.
