How To Move A TRACK In AUDACITY | New Update 2023

If you need to move a track in Audacity it's pretty easy. If you have an updated version of the program, you may not visibly see the tool there that existed before. I'll do a quick walk through of how to use the tool in a very easy fashion. The time shift tool can now be used according to the video.

I noticed tonight that in order to move a clip, the audio must be on STOP…not Pause. As long as it’s on pause…it’s anchored.

Thanks for posting this helpful video -- one question: is there a way to move a track an exact amount, be entering say "0.05" seconds somewhere, instead of using the handle type tool ?

I remember being able to move stuff without having to select it. I could just click on the tool and move whatever I want. I don't understand why they changed this. It's just change for the sake of change

What if I want to shift a track by an oddly specific number? (i.e. 3572/44100 samples)

I'm using the 3.4.2 Version. To drag a track freely just uncheck the box at the bottom "Fit (Seconds, 1/2, 1/4 etc...)"
