So much epicness just for a server. DICE, you surprise me everytime. :)

I whole heartedly agree!! If I wanted to play with someone else's rules I would check the servers, but if I choose a quick match I EXPECT to play on DICE servers with the original settings we've already grown to love!

With a voice so epic, 1:16 feels all the more better when "practicing tactics with friends".

If I'm correct you could change your match's settings in call of duty. You can do what ever you want in call of duty private game. And you still get to invite about 18 people to play in it. The call of duty private games are free too. But BF3's rent servers have the options to be ranked and public. (2 things that cod doesn't have)

I hope one day that DICE will make a update so you can search pacifically for a dedicated server, custom server, or both at the same time. That'll bring my joy.

I don't see why everyone is complaining... It isn't really a private server it is a custom made server with custom rules and map/game rotation... and you can't expect to rent a dedicated server for free... dedicated servers cost money. Thats why you get hardly any lag...

Try searching DICE in the search tab, they said on twitter that they're looking into adding a official server only filter. Much needed

You can get in a server with just your friends or on you own by just going in the server browser and finding an empty one.

Completely agree with you.

I don't want to play Rush with 150 lives or Conquest with 700 lives. I want to play one mode on the standard settings on an official server.

I'm incredibly surprised DICE did not bring out an extra option where you could search for DICE ONLY servers.

I thought this would have been common sense.

for all those people asking if you can rent a server fore free its because your not hosting the server on your xbox/ps3 your buying space on their systems, so it costs them money to maintain all those games at once. on pc its generally your computer running the server not someone else. otherwise you are generally paying for it.

Because you have so eloquently told me to get back on topic, the option to rent-a-server is there for the people that want to customize their game AND be able to play with people outside of their social network if they so choose. You don't have to buy it if you dont want to. The online passes are there as a sort of "tax" for buying/trading a used game. DICE/EA gets no profit if you buy a used copy, while they need to make space for YOU on their servers. Essentially, they lose money.

1) Servers are extremely expensive to maintain and DICE would become bankrupt within a few months, so that's not going to happen.
2) No kick option? So what happens when you've got kids screaming on voice
3) It's not stupid. Custom servers are the reason you can enjoy different levels of difficulty without having to switch to hardcore/normal mode entirely. And it means you can also play with friends a lot more easily. The only "stupid" servers are P2P.

Yea so true. I think that they need more maps like Gulf Of Oman. I don't know what it is but something about that map just works so well, for not only conquest but the other game modes as well. Probably the "open freedom" you we're talking about, but somehow the map doesn't feel empty, whereas maps like OP Firestorm are big, but don't feel very open or directed.

Lol i dunno if that made any sense but yea, basically I agree with you.

•Free PRIVATE UNRANKED servers
•More players ATLEAST 15 vs 15
• Vehicle entrance and exit cinimatic animation (optional to player)
•Make squads combineable, for more friends to join the action
•Spawn protection for atleast 3 seconds or more
•No more Team Killing with jeeps by jumping out
• Delay IR flares for tanks
• Have a timer for airvehicles that spawn kill (kinda like out of a battle zone thing)
• for consoles* HAVE A WAY TO COMMUNICATE TO THE OTHER TEAM (text or speech)

War: "A state of armed conflict between different nations or states or different groups within a nation or state."

CoD is a war game. There's vehicles, soldiers, intense action and a huge variety of weapons and equipment to chose from, both in the campaign and multiplayer modes. It doesn't have the scale of a Battlefield game, but saying it's not a war game isn't right. And matches can be bigger than 6 v 6. And I'm in love with BF but I thoroughly enjoyed every CoD until now, so no bias.

Yes and I understand that. So far Battlefield 3 is the only FPS that serves a rental 'DEDICATED SERVER' for such a massive map and player count... and take note that although these servers are dedicated, it is outsourced (which has better connections IMHO)... So yes you have to pay and they have to pay for it as well. And as far as i'm concerned, this is more or less how online gaming works. I really have no say about the price whether its cheap or not. The service is there, it's just up to us.
