Using Assessment to Improve Learning Outcomes
James Nottingham

‘Assessment for learning’ can have a significantly positive effect on student learning. However, the effects are also wildly variable, with one third of studies showing a negative outcome! Added to that, 80% of the verbal comments that students receive during the day to help them assess their own progress comes not from teachers but from other students – and most of it is wrong! So, imagine if we could address these problems and improve the reality for all students! That is what James will show in his presentation.
