A warlord Chronomancer with a pack of immortals can easily score "Command Insertion" Secret mission in hypercrypt. On turn 5 use cosmic precision to 3" deepstrike in your opponent deployment zone as close as possible to their home objective, shoot and scoot for 5" to their home objective for 20 primary.

I use the Chronomancer along with Imotek as my only battleline unit in Hypercrypt. The utility of being able to camp your home objective and gain CP but also move out of cover shoot into no mans land then retreat back onto your home objective is insanely powerful with cover as they are infantry. Later hyperphasing them into the enemy held objective with the Tesla Carbines and popping Imotek's wound bomb basically guarantees you own that objective and have the nimbleness to react to your opponent afterward.

As a CSM player, running a Sorcerer with Legionaries has been really good for me, especially with the Fellhammer detachment rule. So a Chronomancer for me is definitely an interesting pick as I build my Necron list.

Cryptothralls become a part of the bodyguard unit so you can decide to take a 2 or 3 damage weapon to an immortal, while taking 1 damage weapons to thralls. That kind of switching between targets may become crucial. Additionaly if you have an overlord with an orb in the team you get to decide which units get back up during reanimation (aside from wounded crypothrals). Cryptothralls are a lot better in melee than warriors or imortals. A bit expensive when it comes to points, but not bad either. Especialy with a chronomancer to repositiion a unit after movement. A warden to fall back and charge is pretty good too. All things considered I would use them only in canoptek court for the rerolls and awakened dynasty with a +1 to hit - might be worth it there. Not so much in other detachments.

There's a janky play in hypercrypt with the dimensional corridor strat. Move the unit with the chronomancer through the monoloty's eternity gate, shoot, move 5" after shooting, use dimensional corridor to charge. The unit's never going to be great in combat, but it can get you onto an objective to flip it. Not something you're likely to do often, but will surprise your opponent.
