China conducts military drills near Taiwan

Following House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, China has begun conducting military exercises near the island. Taiwan has asked for international condemnation of the drills. CBS News foreign correspondent Lucy Craft joins us from Tokyo to explain the significance of the drills and potential next steps from China.

Wrong! Taiwan has nothing to do with China since 1895 after China surrendered Formosa to Japan. The current ROC government was implanted by KMT after they lost their civil war against CCP. After Japan lost 2nd World War in 1945, Japan gave up their territory of Taiwan but never said it was given to China (ROC regime). When Uncle Sam defeated Japan and won the 2nd World War, Uncle Sam appointed Chuang Kaishek to represent the allies receiving the surrender from Japan. The ROC government in exile has never left since. That’s why Taiwan’s sovereignty issue has never been solved and left Taiwanese in this political turmoils.

Just a note: it's not Xi Jinping that "considers Taiwan a break away province", Taiwan has been part of China for 42 centuries.
The brits during their colonial wars in the south east turned it into a singular country.
