In this video, IM Alex Astaneh will teach you the rule of the square in more detail and teach you how to use this rule in different situations.

The Rule of the Square:
- In this video you learned the rule of the square in more detail. We discussed one example, where the king is hindered (blocked from accessing the pawn) by his own pawn.
- In another example we discussed Reti‘s endgame study related to the rule of the square, where it looks like white is losing because his king is too far away from black’s pawn. However, at the end white is able to hold a draw.
- We discussed also the rook pawns and showed, that they often end in a draw (stalemate), when the key squares are not under control.
