Here's Why Taco Bell Really Flopped In Mexico

Plenty of Americans love Taco Bell, but no one is going to mistake it for authentic Mexican cuisine. The fast food restaurant knows what it’s good at, and its customers love it. However, the Mexican-American chain has tried to open restaurants in Mexico more than once, and it’s gone about as well as opening an Olive Garden in Rome. Although there are probably some people in Mexico who are curious about what an American take on Mexican food tastes like, there have never been enough to make Taco Bell a success there. Let’s take a look at why Taco Bell really flopped in Mexico.

What do you think about the quality of Taco Bell's food?

Cause you can get better, cheaper, faster, and legitimate meals of the same thing anywhere in Mexico

Because you can get more, fresh, local, cheaper, and just as fast.

Doesn't make sense to send taco bell to Mex, I thought it was common sense, you can literally get much better for cheaper on the streets so there's no way it would have been profitable and something else to think about they didn't acclimate their menu to the country they were trying to serve, like the mcdeez in Japan or China dont have the same menu we do, and another thing if they imported their raw materials from the US instead of locally sourced that added to the price, and another thing, they priced their food with US pricing, you can't do that in Mex, you have to play by their currency, they should have looked at the pricing from restaurants in the area and matched them instead of pricing it so high, with that money you could have fed two people with authentic Mexican food, and well fed at that, ok im stepping down my soap box

There’s gorditas in Mexican menus- they are the most traditional food where my family is from- but they look nothing like what Taco Bell sells

1:59 WTF? Gorditas as a food have existed in Mexico longer than Mexico has existed as a country. They're a very traditional precolombian food and a bunch of restaurants sell them.

"Have you ever seen a gordita or a chalupa on the menu of an authentic Mexican restaurant? We think not"

Me in Mexico City... um... yes... gorditas and chalupas are verrrry authentic. Gorditas from Querétaro and Chalupas from Guerrero are my favorite.

Mexican here.
Is Taco Bell tasty and worth the try once in a lifetime? Sure it is.
Can you call its product "tacos" or even "mexican food"? Never, it doesn't even counts as Tex-Mex. It's closer to hamburgers than it does to even tostadas.

Taco Bell can be a billionaire company with several locations around the world, but in Mexico you can find fresh and SOFT, actual tacos in taquerías at literally every street corner. Literally.

Not to mention you can find an incredible amount of variety just for tacos, and that variety changes in each region of the country you visit. That happens with all of the mexican food, and that's an endless list to talk about. I would dare to confirm mexican cuisine is a lot bigger than other more popular ones around the world, like french or italian ones. As a fun fact, a lot of modern italian food and flavor depends on mexican ingredients.

“Like bringing ice to the Arctic” lol thank you. I couldn’t have said it better. The corporation was out of their minds in attempting to bring Taco Bell to the country of tacos lol I hope they switched CEO’s. I’m Mexican and this made me laugh that they attempted that 💯

A) Taco Bell Sucks

B) Gordias is a real thing. They are stuffed tortillas. They can be stuffed with carne, pastor, queso, ect. Taco Bell just makes them wrong. However, at a true Mexican restaurant you can find them on the menu, and they will be made correctly.

In Mexico you can get tacos dirt cheap and far more flavorful
especially now that Taco Bell has removed their shredded chicken.
